Thought this might be an interesting topic of discussion.... Do you:

1. curse yourself when playing?
2. ask others NOT to curse in your arcade?
3. curb your cursing when children are present?

I was getting mad yesterday when playing Robotron, and one of my kids was standing right next to me watching, so I really had to bite my tongue. I usually have no problem throwing colorful metaphors out when I get mad so, it was a bit of an effort if something went south during gameplay and all I could say was 'crap', 'darnit', or 'geez'...

I remember being in arcades where I got to hear all kinds of words and phrases that I'd NEVER heard before, so maybe that had an impact! Even in the movie TRON, you hear the guy playing the arcade game at the very beginning say DAMM!!!! I'd love to have heard the discussion that took place in the Disney studio regarding that script line!

Are all of us who play arcade games simply doomed to walk the Earth the rest of our days cursing?

Wouldn't curse in front of kids, but its open season when my buddies are out there.

Remember its a game. Try to have fun with it. If you are getting mad, walk away and try it later when you calm down.

To use the force, you have to have a calm mind and concentrate. Clear your mind and feel the force flow through you.

I don't mind some cussing. What I can't stand is people who cuss in almost every single sentence. My sister does this. Drives me nuts.

Cussing is like a spice. A little can make a situation more memorable or a conversation more interesting. Too much can ruin it all.

Someone once told me when I was younger and cussing a little too much that, "A dirty mouth is the sign of a small mind." Kinda stuck with me since then.

I don't cuss around kids cause they WILL repeat it at some time. Usually when you don't expect it. My sister and fiancee cuss at their kids quite a bit when they are mad at them. I don't know. Maybe if I had kids of my own...

One year at CAX I was watching a guy play Missile Command... He was dropping dozens of F-bombs and other naughty words while playing. And he just had this 'woe is me' attitude, like the entire world was conspiring against him each time he died or lost a city. Strange and slightly embarrassing at the same time.
Seriously, dude, the games are free to play... EDIT: OK, technically not free... but still, damn

Sometimes I make up my own curse words when playing games. My friends make fun of me for it. A lot.

I most deff curse myself when screwing up on a good game.

I dont have that many ppl over but when I do they for the most part watch themselves.

I try not to curse in front of any kiddos, unless they start it first!!

In general I try to not use bad language around kids. Sometimes I forget and do but usually I don't. Generally if someone is in my house I invited them so I don't want to be disrespectful to my friends. I could play the it's my house my rules card but I can cuss all I want when alone or around friends so the few times I have to bite my tongue is not a big deal.

Outside of the arcade there are some places I will curse pretty freely if I'm in the mood and have little sympathy for those who bring kids around the area. Most notably would be segregated bars in restaurants. Although these establishments have a loophole that allows kids to be in the area it's just not smart IMO to bring kids into the bar area and if a parent chooses to they should accept the consequences of bring a child into an adult atmosphere.

If we were talking BITD at an arcade that catered to teenagers and adults I would probably cuss freely if I felt the need/desire to. In general I don't get that into the games though where I'm pissed enough to cuss about it. Sometimes it happens.

I'm an atheist with no children.

If there isn't swearing going on while I'm playing games, someone needs to get the heart paddles ready...

Usually, no. Any death in Dig Dug? Expect a monologue.

Interesting observation.

I also notice that when I get killed in Asteroids or Battlezone, it feels like I deserved it; but when I get killed in Dig Dug, I'm pissed about it...
