Current Restorations - Punch Out & A Couple Nintendo Cabinets

This is whats in my workshop right now. I started with a Punchout and a blue Nintendo cabinet. The Punchout seemed to have been dropped out of a truck and was falling apart. I reinforced it and am in the process of a full restoration. I have the bondo and sanding done as well as making a new pedestal and painting all black on the top, back, and inners. I had all metal powdercoated.
The blue Nintendo cabinet (Middle one in pics), I bought gutted from chips4sle last Summer. I think it was a DK at one point, but empty now. I have a multi idea for it for my arcade. I have the Bondo applied, sanded, and all black paint done on the top, back, and inners. I made a new pedestal and had all metal powdercoated for this as well.
The other cabinet was a dedicated Hogans Alley that I picked up on Craig's List last weekend. Its also empty. I just dug out a Donkey Kong bezel and control panel to put on it. I have a friend who wants a 60 in 1 and this cabinet is perfect for that project! Other than putting the marquee and bezel on, I haven't done anything to it yet.
I'm hoping to have these dome by the end of July. Here's where I'm at:

Thanks. And yes, that's a side of a trashed Star Wars cabinet on the ceiling. I made a little more progress this weekend. I cut a back door and painted the bases:

I found a Nintendo VS control panel in my attic that'll work perfectly for my blue Nintendo idea. I removed the old CPO and media blasted it:

I dug around in my parts and found a ton of switches, button mounts, joysticks, PAL nuts, monitor mount brackets, coin mechs, and misc other parts I'll need:

And I was alble to disassemble, clean, and polish the PAL nutsbutton mounts, and CPO mount brackets:

I made some progress on my Punch Out. I ordered black vinyl from ThisOldGame. I was able to do the front panels and secure them. I will get the sides once it is in my basement. I don't want to risk marring the sides. I also finished the control panel with a new overlay and buttons. I'll be recapping the monitors and rejuvenating the tubes this week. I'm also plugging away on my othert Nintendo project. Here's some quick pics:

Thanks for the offer, but I had a local plastics shop make me one. I was hoping to have my monitors capped and rejuvenated yesterday. My desoldering gun wasn't sucking the solder up like it should and I had to order a new tip. I'm hoping that I'll have it by the weekend. My front speaker panel came today for my regular Nintendo cabinet and I was able to get that on and the vinyl applied to the entire front of the cabinet. I also put the vinyl, sideart, and powdercoated coin doors on my Punch Out. I'm making progress. Here are some pics:

Multi NES Entertainment Arcade

I guess the secret is out of the bag now. The 2nd cabinet be a MAME with all of the NES games on it. I got the artwork and applied it this morning. I got ned buttons fron Mike's Arcade. I'm just waiting for a friend to finish the computer to wire it up. I also need to apply t molding. Here's it is at this point:

I'm usually not a big fan on custom multis, but that looks great. I can see that a lot of thought went into that project!

How did that black vinyl turn out? Does it seem sturdy? Been thinking about vinyling my Galaga instead of painting it.

The black vinyl is awesome and is a pretty thick ply. I bought enough for my Punch Out to try it. I ended up buying more for my Multi Nintendo and another machine that I have in the works. Its really easy to work with as well.

I brought the cabinet down to my basement arcade and put it together. I had a new Vision Pro 19" CRT monitor sitting here that I had no immediate plans for, so I dropped that in. I wired the control panel and pinned the Molex connectors. I picked up some mat board and used that to replace the crappy looking original monitor surround. I put some white T molding on. Now, I'm just waiting for my friend to drop by with the computer. He's setting it up (MAME) with all of the NES games. I'm thinking about adding a gun still, but other than dropping the computer in - IT'S DONE!

I did the design and gave him my files, then he made it work for his cab which I seriously am thinking of making a Nintendo cab look like yours since my other 2 player NES cab turned into a Fix It Felix. I don't think you could have made a better looking NES cab honestly, except maybe a huge Red Nintendo logo on the side or something.

Yep, Rick did the art for the overlay. He did a great job! I had a friend take the characters out and simplify it a little. I am thinking about putting "Nintendo" sideart on it and do it with just the logo running diagonally similar to a Punch Out. It'll be in my row and the sides won't show. That's why I'm hesitant.
