I moved things around today to make the arcade machines in our store more noticeable when you walk in. There's also a Vs Dr Mario and Arkanoid back to back with these. I have room for 3 more!

The shelves there with xbox and ps2 games on them act as a divider to separate the tables where we do Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic tournaments. I think it looks pretty ok with the machines sticking up over those shelves, further blocking the tables from view when you walk in.

It's a pretty nice mix, I get to buy old arcade games I've always wanted and the Yu-Gi-Oh kids put quarters in them. :)

That looks great! Do the machines make a little money? Old gamers coming in to play them?

Nice setup,

Yes. We sell mostly classic console games, so people coming in to check those out get a little excited from time to time. Sometimes I set a high score on Galaga when there's a Yu-Gi-Oh thing going on and announce there's $10 store credit to anyone who0 can beat it and I can make a few bucks that way since none of the kids can :)

We average $30-50 a week on them I guess.

I do tend to neglect my other duties like scrubbing NES carts with a toothbrush more these days though :(

$30 to $50 a week is very respectable for something that is filler in a store. I am hoping the guy I am working with can pull $10 to $15 a week. He also runs a classic console gaming store.

I really think we get the most play from people in card game tournaments. There's a lot of waiting around between rounds and it's something fun to do instead of sit there.

Yeah, I have talked to both of the owners of the local gaming shops but they aren't interested in losing the floor space. One guy has a tatoo parlor next door with a Popeye, some Jamma shooter, and a Guns N Roses pin that makes a killing off of the down time of the gaming shop. I almost put my Super OffRoad in a local slot car store. They had a large track and tons of down time during races but they went under before an a greement could be made...

The Super Offroad in a slot car palce would have done well, I bet. That's a really good idea.

Does this offer stand even if there is no Yu-Gi-Oh thing going on? :)

Get you a cordless dremel with nylon brush and some car wax and the NES carts clean up like butta! Only con is you have to take them apart to do it.

You really should put some Jamma games in there. I'm sure some of the people going into your store played some Jamma games growing up or when they were younger.

im jelous of your store!

how much would you pay me to clean carts you could send me?

Not done with a tooth brush, really clean and shiny again, taken apart to do it.

When I say clean with toothbrush I mean the cleaning crud off the outsides. I clean crud off a lot of old games. I do the insides myself, I couldn't afford to pay someone to do it for me.

Otherwise I'd pay someone to do the crud part :)

Store looks cool, will have to stop by the next time I have to do some work at the old IBM building in Endicott. Maybe challenge that high score! :)
