curbside FREE pickup!!!! Frogger!!!!!

No Groffy, I didn't steal it...... It was sitting in the middle of a bunch of trash bags, which I deduced were filled with trash due to their smell and general appearance. And also, since we are apparently investigating this acquisition, it was actually sitting on the street, which is public domain here, hence no assumed ownership.

Oh, almost forgot, I was working at the time(as a Deputy, in uniform, and in cruiser) and verified with the then previous owner that it was FREE

That should clear that up so we can all sleep better

How about:
A boardset.
A power supply.
A monitor.
Your house's circuit breaker.

Open it up to make sure everything is secured and connected properly and that theres no quarters or trash shorting anything across the wires/power supply. Better safe than screwed.

Can you really call them a "buddy" or a "friend" if they call to tell you about a game on a curb down the street from their house? A real friend would have gotten it, brought it to their house, and then called you...

am I the only one that woulda died of laughter seeing a cop drag something out of the trash... then wheel it down the road?

I have my fingers crossed that there is not a monitor problem.

That'd be nice, but I'd be willing to bet $$ that it does. 9 out of 10 games I see people trying to give away on craigslist (from "free" to about $50) have monitor problems.

The good thing is, if you don't end up wanting to deal with it, you can make sure it gets into the hands of another KLOVer - that's the best part of the rescue. But I hope you end up working on it; Frogger would be an excellent machine to practice your skills on. It's not rare, it's not particularly valuable, parts are readily available, and it's a great game.

No, see, what happens then -- and I speak from experience -- is they decide that the waterlogged Defender they just saved sure looks good in their garage, so an hour later you're getting the "a real friend would..." speech from them as they ask you to give them a monitor and make sure the corroded mess of wiring still works. :D

UPDATE!!!!!! I found a nice power cord on an old computer my work was throwing away. This morning, when I got off, I put the new power cord in, then checked all the plugs, connections, all appeared good. I plugged it in...... I pulled out the rear door interlock, and.........wait for it........SIZZLE!!, The neck, or neck board, I don't know, was making a sizzling sound, and showing sparks? Also, the spring looking thing around the monitor tube was sparking. I shut it down, then pulled the neck board off, which seemed loose. I powered it back up, and it worked perfect, other then monitor. I added quarters through both slots, and was able to credit up both player one and two. I could play it blind basically, all directions of the joystick worked, evidenced by the frog jumping sounds. I played it a bunch and even landed a frog on the other side somehow, blindly!! That's skill....it was a Jedi thing....you wouldn't understand.

So, game is working perfectly, other than the monitor. Is that the flyback causing that sizzling and sparking? The monitor is a WG19k4675. The game serial number is 184733 frogger by Sega/ gremlin. I'm gonna end this "find" thread, consult the monitor repair section, and post any further questions there. Thanks for the responses and interest

So if I leave my car parked in the street it becomes public domain?

Man...Are you down because he found a game on the side of the road? You know you would have picked it up too!

No not at all. I am just trying to understand the law. It may be universally accepted that if something is set at the curb that it is trash but that is not always the case. At least he did check with the owner.

I was just giving him a hard time...
