So, my buddy calls me today and I didn't answer, because I was sleeping because I work tonight. He calls me again when I was going to work. He says there is a Frogger arcade game sitting by the curb down from his house. I rushed over there and confirmed and it looks great, really great. All original, but the cabinet, marquee, everything look about 7-8out of 10. The power cord was cut off but at this point I had to have it. I rushed home and got my dolly and went back and he and I wheeled it down to his garage. I'm pretty sure it's the same one I have seen on Craigslist lately here, I think the ad said the screen went out or something but I can't remember. I guess they had no offers and wanted to get rid of it. It even has the coin mechanisms, backdoor, keys, everything is there!!!!! I did take some pics with my phone, but I don't know how to upload them to this Ipad, so I'll do that tmw from my other computer. I just looked at the eBay prices for these and I'm shocked....there are some on there for over a thousand. I'm going to take my 4runner over there in the morning when I get off and bring it home.
I don't know much about these older ones. Is it a good idea to put a new power cord on it and just turn it on? I see a back door interlock switch, but could I hurt it by turning it on to see what happens? Should I verify voltages at the switcher first? maybe that's a good idea... any suggestions welcome.... thanks, pics to come

Curb games are cool. I, too, scored a curbside Frogger about 23 years ago. Your Frogger sounds nicer cosmetically, though. :)

Great score!

My first two games were curbside pickups that a neighbor had put out for bulk trash day. Both were non-working at the time. The Asteroids needed a board repair and I happily play it every night. The Donkey Kong Jr. should be alive soon, hoping a local KLOV'er can come through for me and help me finish the monitor repair!
Good luck bringing the Frogger back to life, hopefully it won't take much.

Pics... :)

Want pics.. :)
Sounds like a nice score..
Last "free curbside" I missed by about 5 min!!
Shnobi some years ago..
Talked to some guys hanging outside a few doors down, they said someone local walked by came back with
a dolly and rolled it off..
I actually looked for a bit was going to offer the guy 50 bucks for it..
LOL

Boo! Get the flickr app. It is not easy but you can post to flickr and link them from the iPad when you post.

Thanks for fixing that, Thats it laying on the dolly, picture was with my ancient phone, I'll get better ones tmw. Thats the rear door sitting on top of it... should be a fun restore. I just looked at the instructions online and they actually look pretty informative and detailed. It doesn't have any side art, but I will look into getting that if I can get it running. seems like a lot of the pictures of them online don't show them with side art anyway

Did you just take it from the curb without checking with the owner??? Sounds like you stole it...just saying.....

Yeah, that's probably a more reasonable price expectation. I have no plans to sell it anyway, I had just done a quick ebay search and the prices were high. I have to see if it works first! I'm working all night tonight and Sunday night but have some time maybe Monday night. It needs a power cord to start, so I'm out looking for one I can cut off an old appliance or something. I know they are really cheap, but I need something to do. my department is really short on people working this weekend so were are encouraged to basically do nothing but answer calls, if there are any. Kinda boring!! nights like this I become a sort of Midnight Picker. hopefully I can find a good power cord to test it, then I can make a list of parts I need and make a plan of attack for the restoration. I do know it needs a new bezel, and I would like to add the side art to it, but probably shouldn't worry about that until it's running. I have my fingers crossed that there is not a monitor problem.
