ok so went to play a game, it has been almost a year since i have had this game on,all i get on the screen is single white/blueish horizontal line.so thought it was a chassis problem, replaced it with a working one still get the same line? game plays blind any thoughts? thanks James

It could also be your yoke. Unplug the yoke, then measure between the two vertical wires on the plug and see what resistance you get. Look close at it and see if it seems all burnt up.

By Chassis, you mean you replaced the whole monitor board, right? What type of monitor is it?

yes just replaced the chassis board only, not the tube,it only has a sticker on it that was made in japan.witch two wires are you talking about? tried to measure res. from the plug coming off the yoke, red blue yellow green did not get any readings any combo? what should the ohms be?

O.K., check for resistance between red and blue. You should have some, because you're getting a horizontal line.

Then check between green and yellow. That's your vertical. Afterwards, let us know what you get.

ok red/blue 2.9 green/ yellow nothing so i checked the tube that i pulled the other chassis from reading 2.9 r/b 39 g/y so have a problem with the tube? is it easy fix ?or just replace?

It's not the tube, the tube has three major parts on it,

1. the actual tube (can't go bad in this way)
2. the convergence rings (attached near the end of the neck)
3. the yoke

You are measuring the yoke. It's bad. Look really closely at the connector, and at where it connects to the actual yoke. You'll see little tiny copper wires attached to little lugs. Look close and see if one is broken, and if you can solder it back together.

you can swap the yoke off the other tube, but you have to remove the convergence rings first. If, and it's a big if, you can get the yoke from the other tube to perfectly line up on your new tube... and the convergence rings to line up exactly where they are right now, you can swap the yoke off your other tube.

Or, just swap the whole tube into the cabinet.

Easiest though is to try to find where the yoke wire is broken.
