So on my Crystal Castles machine, the trackball seemed like it was slipping. I would be able to control the guy okay, but sometimes when I would spin the ball he would just stay in place. I opened it up and cleaned it to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I bought a new Happ trackball to replace the old one and I thought that would be the end of it. Well after putting it in, I could control my guy, but right was up and left was down. I rotated the trackball 90 degrees to see if it would fix the problem, and now up is up and down is down, but left is right and right is left.

Any ideas? Kind of frustrating, ha.

SOLVED with the help of a PM. I had to switch the left/right with the up/down connector, then switch a couple signal wires on the left/right connector as well. Seems like something they should have tested before sending out?

Thanks everyone!

Ah yes - i vaguely remember doing this on mine, and having the game issue. The details are escaping me from memory!

Just throwing out there that i had the same problem, messed with it for a half hour or so, and got it normal. Common sense prevailed.

I used this as a guide - the X / Y optos must be in the housing as pictured.

As i recall - the vertical and horizontal motion PCB needed to be exact to the pic, and, i needed to mount the orientation in the cab exactly. I did this hookup with the machine on so i can test it while i placed it. Eventually it worked - but i do recall it being un intuitive.
