Help!

I have an Atari Crystal Castles that I would like like to connect to an amplifier to bypass the AR board for audio. How do I connect the audio from the crystal castles wiring harness to an amplifier ?

I see an AUDIO 1 and an AUDIO 2, but that appears to be two different channels and not a single audio output ?

I am using the pinouts here:

Thank you !

The relevant question is why are you doing this?

The AR's are fine supplies. There is really no need to hack your game/harness/etc, unless you're doing something truly novel. But if you're just trying to replace the AR with a switcher (which requires a separate audio amp), then you're just making a lot more work for yourself. And you won't actually solve your issues if you are having voltage problems, as the edge connector is typically the root cause of Atari power issues, and a switcher isn't going to clean the edge connector.

But to answer your question, Atari boards that use an AR have two outputs (AUDIO1 and AUDIO2), which are a single audio channel in a push-pull configuration, and the AR amplifies this signal, via another push-pull amplifier. So AUDIO1 is one channel, and AUDIO2 is the inverse of that channel. It is not stereo.

If you're trying to plug it into an external amp, you'll need a cable that connects AUDIO1 and ground of the AR to one input of your amp. You can leave AUDIO2 disconnected, and not do anything with it.

I guess the other assumption here is that the OP is also not using the ARII for general powering of the +5V or +12V board etc. Humm ? Maybe that's why? (using a switcher)

Or perhaps the CC logic board is being used in another cabinet (or setup), not a dedicated CC cabinet ...

In my environment, this is for a bench setup, using 12v from a switcher. No AR board present. I assumed I could use AUDIO 1 directly, however the +/- of the audio I wasn't clear if I could tap the negative side to ground or not. Thank you again.
