Got a Cruis'n World with the huge 33" monitor that I picked up awhile back. Trying to get it going.

It needs a sound rom, U6 is bad. I was pretty sure the problem was the mother board so I took it with me to where I have another Cruisn World and found that U6 is bad. Anyone knoiw where the best place is to get the file or a chip.

Another issue I just noticed is that when you coin up a game and press start, it just goes through and quickly chooses the trans, car and track really fast without hitting the start button. If anyone has ideas on that let me know.

Edit: Also , is there a better troubleshooting guide than the owners manual for these games ? Also curious what the led lights on the motherboard indicate.

The U6 file is in the MAME romset for Cruis'n World. You press the gas pedal to choose trans/car/track so you just need to calibrate it so it isn't registering presses all the time.

Turns out the window in the rom was broken and the glass went inside the rom. Found this out when I peeled the label off to erase it . New rom is installed now and sound is ok.

The controls are another issue...

What I realized is, the steering wheel is actually not only steering, but making the car go too.... that is why it was selecting as soon as you turn the wheel.
Very odd. When you turn the wheel the car steers and accelerates. I put in new pots and turned it on and now the brakes were on solid but the steering no longer made the car accelerate. I calibrated it and it went back to square one, steering wheel operates the gas. I am beginning to think the chip at J130 could be bad, the multiplexer.

Tomorrow I am taking the board to a location and testing it in a working game. Stay tuned....
