Cruis'n World rom question

So I have a Cruis'n world. First ever driving game for me.

It currently is at version 1.9. I'd like to get it to the newest romset which is v2.5

Is it just a matter of swapping out ROMS U10-U13 ? I know there's a security chip or something, but I wont be linking anything. Is that still needed?

Yes, just a rom swap at U10-U13 .

Also, use v2.4 , not v2.5 .

From what I understand, v2.5 was only created when Midway ran out of Cruis'n Cabinets
and used Hyperdrive cabs instead.

Hyperdrive cabs do NOT have a shifter, so v2.5 was created to bypass the transmission selection screen (Manual or Automatic )
and was only used on Hyperdrive cabs.

If you have Cruis'n cab with the 4-speed shifter, use v2.4.

Lastly, you should be able to link two World cabs without any special chips
as long as both games have the same rom revision.

( This is different than Cruis'n USA, in which older versions also need a PAL upgrade to link )

Awesome! thanks @steph ! I was really hoping it was just 4 chips and not all 16 lol
