Is this why I cannot have nice things?

Does anyone have any idea how to disassemble the View/Cam buttons in this thing? I just broke one attempting to pull it apart. It used to be some of the strongest plastic on a switch I've worked with. I found it's threshold.

All I wanted to do was replace the bulbs inside.

I will buy you an ice cream if you can help me solve this mess. HAPP's new ones twist apart. These, supposedly pull apart. Perhaps in another dimension that is not this one.

I'm pretty sure the whole white piece screws in/out. Or maybe I hooked a small flat head under an edge and wedged the whole thing out. Can't remember :(

Excellent. I used a tiny thin flat-head, hammer-tapped it into the lip, and it separated and came right apart.

Also had some LocTite glue and put the broken piece back on the switch mount. Seems to be holding well. Ordered 20 5V #555 LED wedges, and 30 12V #161 LED wedges.

So far so good!

Thanks again, guys! Leave a store location and I'll call to IOU you some ice creams!

Happ has an assortment of pushbuttons like this. I encourage you get new ones if you really want the game to work.

the way I take any buttons apart is you press the button in and with your thumb and pointer finger you squeeze the tabs in. pushing the button in gives you more flexibility to squeeze.

I've taken HUNDREDS of buttons apart doing this. tools just introduce the risk of breaking things.

Happ only has the red oval illuminated at the moment. The rest are rectangle. Also the ones that Happ are selling are much easier to disassemble. The bulb assembly just twists-to-unlock.

On these originals, only with the bulb assembly removed can you pinch the tabs to disassemble the rest of the button.

But my goal here was just to remove the lamp assembly to replace the bulb with an LED. No need to disassemble the entire pushbutton.

I've been planning to do LEDs on my USA so I'd like to see how happy you are with yours once you're done. I've had mixed results buying cheap eBay LEDs, some of them tend to spot too narrowly, some are really purple.

The replacements I got were all cool-white color. 5V (pinballlife.com) for the coin doors, 12v (Jtechnow-Amazon) for the Cam/Radio/Start buttons. I unfortunately can't show any before pics since all the incandescent bulbs are dead, but I'll post some after pics or video for ya when they come in.

Drat! Unfortunately my phone sucks trying to take pictures of the LEDs in the Cruis'n World. But I have to say, It looks awesome! I replaced the Coin Mech lights, START, and all three View buttons with LEDs. RADIO doesn't actually have wiring for a bulb even though it's in there. Not too bright at all. And now I will probably never have to replace them ever again.

Ok, I guess I really need to go ahead and do mine.
Just be careful with the disassembly, and be mindful of the led size. I had to trim off a plastic ring around the ones I ordered otherwise they would not allow the buttons to depress when put back together.
