Cruis'n USA radio button missing the light bulb wiring

So I am very new to owning my very first arcade machine so excuse me if this is too newbish of a question. I saw that the radio light was out on my Cruis'n USA so I wanted to replace it. At first I thought the bulb was burnt out and it just needed a new one, but after I took off the control panel I noticed it was missing the 2 wires for the light. The start button has a purple and orange wire which the radio button is missing. I looked around the control panel to see if there was any wires to plug which may have come unplugged but I didn't find any. I remembered seeing a listing on ebay for a control panel pulled from another machine that had pictures of the rear wiring so I looked it up for reference. The pictures are not very high resolution, but it looks like the seller is also missing the light bulb wires to the radio button. This is the link to the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CRUISIN-USA...228?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564bfccd14

I find it rather strange that I find a second control panel with the same issue. Is there some sort of common wire I am missing that easily gets thrown away or lost? Could I just double up the start button light bulb wires to lead into the radio button? Maybe someone with a Cruis'n USA can shed some light on this.

I've got the same thing on both my Cruis'n USA panels. Yes, you can simply add a set of wires to the radio button from the start button. I'm about to do the same.

Yup. Until you start a game. Otherwise route a wire from a different button. But Start button's the closest.

It's not supposed to light up. They just liked the way the button looked.

The start button only lights when the game has credits, and the view buttons only light when they're activated. Since the radio is always on, there's no reason for it to be lit.

Kind of weird but that's how it is.

Let's bring this one back from the dead. On board that pulses the lights on and off there are two chips that handle that task, each chip goes to its own header. All of the lights that flash take up a whole connector, so it would need to utilize the other connector, which they probably didn't consider worth it for one lamp.

I know this is old but in case anyone from the future finds this, I was able to get the radio button to light up and only light up during gameplay by jumping wires from the radio button to each "view mode" button since one is always lit during gameplay.

For a guy with three cats, that's an elegant solution. If it's what you wanted, good on you.

So I wanted to re-bump this since I was wanting to get the Radio button lit as well. I started trying @Guy With 3 Cats solution, but I found that tying all of the view lines together resulted in all of the view lights and radio button lights staying on at all times. I wanted the view buttons to work as they originally were independent from the radio button.

I ended up putting a diode in line on each of the ground/selection wires and that took care of the issue.

Here's some pics for those that are interested.

First you'll need to cut the quick-disconnects off of each of the view button's light wires, and re crimp new ones adding a new wire for each:

Next you'll want to solder a diode in line for each of the purple/selection/ground lines:

I heatshrink tubed them to protect:

You can now tie the purple lines together, and crimp on an end:

Same for the Orange/12v lines:

And finally, just plug into the Radio button:

The end result is that the Radio button only comes on during gameplay. Each view button lights up independently as they originally did.

A little vid of the lamp test showing it working:
