I just bought a Cruis'n USA arcade game. I am trying to adjust the monitor so that I can see the whole screen. I got into the diagnostics menu and found the monitor setup screens. I also found the remote board that adjusts the video and adjusts it left, right and up down. I moved the pot all the way and still the vertical adjustment is too tall. Does anyone know how to make vertical adjustment smaller if the remote board pot is already turned all the way? Thanks

You first need to tell us what model chassis is in there so we can tell you what to adjust....

I read your message after I buttoned the back up. I remember there was a sticker on the back of the monitor that said it was a 25" RCA.

Steve

25" RCA is the tube. We need to know the chassis model. The chassis is the circuit board attached to the back of the tube.

Look at the pictures on this website and see if any match, then come back and tell us what you've got:

What's My Monitor?

Okay, if you have already adjusted the v-Size pot all the way and you still can't get it small enough, then I'd recommend having all the electrolytic caps replaced on the chassis....

BTW, if you can see black at the bottom under your picture, but the top is off the screen, adjust your V-Pos pot....

i dont think your monitor is a k7300. cruis'n is a medium resoultion game. you should look at the pics for a u5000 and the k7500 and see if one of those is it.

I think the Cruis'n games came with either the U5000 or K7500 -- most likely Cruis'n USA originally came with a U5000 though, I don't think the K7500 was made until 1997/1998. U5000 and K7500 are functionally very similar, only the U5000 would have 2 headers in the middle of the chassis for 15 KHz and 24 KHz -- U5000 is both a standard and medium res monitor.

(thanks Chad)
note the 2 white connectors with wires. :)

(thanks again Chad)

if you can't get the pot to adjust any more, then either your pot is jacked up or your chassis needs to be re-capped.

at any rate, it sounds like either of these procedures might be a little advanced for you. maybe you can find someone nearby that can help though.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your help with diagnosing the problem. Like most problems, the diagnosis is harder than the repair. I still need to move the unit back away from the wall and open the back up to verify which board is actually in there. Again, I appreciate the help.

Wells-Gardner has a very complicated model # labeling system, they typically put the label on the very top of the monitor frame, which is probably impossible for you to find on a Cruis'n cab without removing the whole monitor (pain)

you don't have a whole lot of variables though, as far as models, because I think it boils down to U5000 or K7500 with these (cause it's a medium res game)

where do you live at if you don't mind me asking?

I am in CA in the East Bay. I adjusted the vertical position yesterday so that the info on the bottom of the screen was visible and it is only clipping the top of the display where there is not as much info. The game is perfectly useable as is so I was going to adjust the board if it turned out to be an easy tweek. For now, I will just use it as is and keep an eye on it. Thanks everybody for your help.

OK, So I pulled the game back out to put on some new adjusting feet to the cabinet and while I had it out I looked at the board again and compared it to all of the pictures on the bob roberts website somebody pointed me at. What is in there is a SI325. Is there any quick adjustment on this board that will allow me to shrink the vertical size slightly? Thanks Steve

There is a pot on the back of the board with no markings and there is the screen and focus pots. There is also 6 pots associated with the color drives and cutoffs on the board next to the picture tube. The remote board is already adjusted as far as it can go.

Sounds like the monitor may need some new caps to get everything back into optimum tolerance...

OK, Now I have real problems with this monitor. It was fine up until about a week ago when it would not power on. I have no problems at all with the game. It starts and the sound is fine. I pulled the back cover and checked the fuse on the board and it is good and I have 120v going to the board. I put my hand on the side of the heat sink next to the fly back and it is warm so I know I am getting power to it. There is no static on the screen and the neck does not glow. Somebody swapped a SI-325 (Sharper Image) into this machine. I confirmed through Bob Roberts page. What should I do next to troubleshoot? Thanks
