I have a Cruis'n Exotica that is not playing sound, does anybody know where the sounds origin point is? It is in a dedicated Offroad Challenge cabinet converted to exotica

Still looking for a fix

Are you trying to add exotica to your offroad? or did it come that way? There should be 2 harness adapters.. one of them is for sound.

I can take some pics of my setup if you need them.
I'm assuming Off Road Challenge was like Cruis'n USA/World in that it didn't get amplifier power from the power supply but instead an AC tap and had its own bridge rectifier on the game board to generate +/-12V for the DCS sound section. Exotica did get it from the power supply.

it's been a long time but I'm guessing the +12V and -5V wiring wasn't populated on the JAMMA harness on the Cruis'n games?

Heres a pic of the harnesses. The top one is sound I think. Make sure those are in place. I would check your power supply. Make sure all the voltages are good especially -5. Lastly, exotica does output sound through jamma to help isolate the problem.

I just checked... but the bad news is that the board is the issue... I plugged it into my dedicated exotica cabinet, known working, I tested a working Exotica board, and it played sound, when I plugged the board from the offroad challenge in, no sound... But, I also plugged my working board into the offroad challenge... also no sound, I plugged it back into my dedicated machine and the sound worked again.

Ok so unfortunately, I had everything plugged in right... so the cabinet doesn't produce sound, which is bad because I don't have any boards from say Cruis'n USA to Offroad Challenge, Exotica I know is a lot different from those earlier games

I already explained this. Cruis'n USA/World/Off Road Challenge use a transformer to supply the +/-12V for the amplifier and DCS sound section. Cruis'n Exotica just uses standard JAMMA power from the power supply.

you can't use an Off Road Challenge in a Cruis'n Exotica cabinet because it has no means for acquiring the necessary voltages for the sound section.

also that harness picture doesn't mean anything either.

So Cruis'n Exotica CAN work in an Offroad Challenge, but not Offroad challenge in Cruis'n Exotica. Is that right?
