I changed out the old crt monitor for an led and it all worked fantastic. I kicked everything on today and the screen is in black and white? I've looked through the the menus on the monitor thinking that maybe a ghost changed it from color to b&w or something and there's not even an option for that.. I've tried restarting the game, looked through the menus on the ega-vga converter... Nothing!
Any guesses?

is there a chip on the board that controls the color? i know for a fact that the monitor is showing color so it has to be something with the pcb?

More your modified harness is the culript: double check your connections

specifically, you have luminance (shades of white), but no saturation (color).

what was the problem with the original monitor? you could've probably fixed that for substantially less than an LCD panel (assuming you got an arcade specific one, not a TV) and adapter board.

You think a connection may have just come loose then? I will double check everything again when I get home this evening. Maybe I will try swapping out the converter board with the one I have in my Cruisin USA and see if it might just be something wrong with the board itself?
I don't think so though because when they both fire up both monitors show the four chinese characters in blue from the conversion board before the games start booting

The original monitor was too fried for me to personally to fix. I put 27" led computer monitors in with the gonbes converter

Did you setup the Clamp settings on the GBS-8220 board?

You need to have the Clamp ST set at 3 and Clamp SP at 4 in the video settings or the screen will be faded on Cruisn World.

Clamps are set on both... This isn't fading to white or black.. This is straight up black and white game play and it's driving me bonkers

It's definitely the gonbes board.. I switched them out and now my Cruisin USA is in black and white...

Now how to track down what on the board is broken...
