Cruisin USA - STD or MED res, or switchable?

I would buy it if I knew it was med res. I don't need another std res.

It kinda looks like a Nanao MS8-26su Med Res monitor to me, but I'm not an expert by a long shot.

What do you make of this? Note the question I asked at the bottom, and the seller's reply.

I'm thinking to myself "Why would a SEGA monitor come out of a Bally Midway/Nintendo game?" :)

Though I see the Cruis'n World entry in KLOV states Standard Res, which I don't believe it is, since you can swap Cruis'n World boards into Cruis'n cabinets with no problem.

Should I assume the seller is wrong, and that it is a Med Res monitor he is selling?

That definitely looks like a Nanao MS-8 to me. I have two of them and mine have black plastic under the chassis, but that metal frame looks the same, as well as what little I can see of the components. Those are dual res, there is a connector on the chassis to switch between CGA and EGA res.

See if you can get another picture of the chassis. From the pics I can't be sure it's an MS-8. Maybe it was an MS-8 and now has a generic CGA chassis on it.

Of course, he says it's a working pull, but who really knows. I don't think I'd buy it without a picture of it working, or some degree of trust in the seller, which it doesn't sound like you have.

Wade

Well you can be sure it's med res if he'll send you a better pic to identify the chassis. But my concern would be whether it really works. I don't gamble on stuff like this, it never works out for me.

Something fishy here. Buyer just posted that he was running Galaxian and Phoenix on this monitor.

How can Galaxian and Cruisin' both run on the same monitor?
