1980 Williams Stargate arrived via NAVL. Now, 19" K4600 CRT displays only horizontal line. Worked perfectly prior to shipping.

Is there anyone in the area that would be willing to make a service call to get the monitor back on its feet?

PM or reply.

THANKS!!!

Check the monitor repair section, but the 4600 has some plug in cards. Make sure that those did not come loose during shipping. There is a black plastic retainer across the top.

K4600 Problem

Great suggestion (thank you) but we tried cycling the chassis boards with no luck; both cards are secure.

As a foot note, the neck board came off during shipping as well but there does not appear to be any damage to the tube or the socket. Yes, came off. The cab is dinged up and a foot was torn off despite being strapped to a palette, wrapped in cardboard and cling wrap. It must have taken a pretty good jolt somewhere to get such a concussion...

it's a issue with either the card pins on the main chassis poss broken solder joints or the larger card on the right with the most parts on it. Either a bad solder joint there or poss a transistor blew. usually the one on the right if you're looking at it with the pins down. usually it's just a bad solder connection though.

I had a K4600 that had collapse. I reflowed a bunch of cold solder joints and the monitor came back to life.

The most noticeable cold solder joint was the connector on the chassis for one of the add in boards. That's probably what brought it back.

I'm certain I could try these (all really good) suggestions and get the monitor on it's feet, but, I'm in Idaho and the game is in Kent, Connecticut.

I walked someone there through some the obvious steps short of soldering, but the problem remains. I think we need professional help.

So, I'm soliciting for someone in that area to pay a service call for me. Does anyone know someone in CT that does CRT / TV work?

Thanks!!!

I'm in Longmeadow Massachusetts on the border of Connecticut. Have a bunch of daughter cards and extra 4600 chassis kicking around. Usually, 95% of the time it's the header pins that connect the daughter cards to the chassis.. Just needs solder.. Pm me and I can help.
