Viewsonic A90 CRT monitor...says it is 18" viewable...30hz

http://tom.viewsonic.com/support/crtmonitors/a90/

would this work in a Midway cab (Pac Man)? I have a 60 in 1 project I'm working on and I'm curious if this would look ok from the front or will it be too small and look odd.

I'm going to remove it from the case and mount it in there like a regular monitor of course...just curious if this will work ok or if i should hold out for a little bigger monitor?

If i can find a 20 or 21 inch monitor it should put me at about a 19 or 20 inch viewable?

help please!

Well first of all that will not work unless you get a converter. I think arcades use 15hertz. It will work for a mame but not compatible with an arcade board.

its a 60 in 1 board and has a port on it for a CRT VGA monitor?

why not use an arcade monitor
funds...dont have much to spare for now...the viewsonic is free if i can use it.

That monitor will work electrically with a 60 in 1. It'll look better than some crappy LCD - but not as nice as a real arcade monitor.

Computer monitors are a tad smaller than arcade monitors - arcade monitors are based off television sets, and TV picture tubes are measured in terms of visible screen size, not size of the glass tube. Computer monitors, however, were always done based on the size of the picture tube itself. Thus, a "19" computer monitor is not really 19" diagonal, whereas a 19" TV (and thus arcade monitor) really is.

Mounting it will be a challenge, you'll have to make your own brackets and mounting stuff.

It'll work with the 60-in-1 board, because that board was designed to work with computer monitors. Real arcade boards won't work with it, however.

So, go ahead and use it - but still, you should keep your eyes open for a real arcade monitor. Sucks that you wound up with a cabinet without one.

thanks Ian...this is my first game and i wanted to build something for my kids to play on so i was going to just do a MAME but then i found out about the 60 in 1 and went that way...was going to use an LCD but then figured a CRT would look better and i have one i can get for free...so...its ok i think.

I got the super pac man cab for next to nothing from a really nice guy who is on here and not far away...he has helped me out a lot so far with answers.

Since then I managed to get a nice robo cop pretty cheap and its really nice so i dont want to change it, will just restore it and enjoy it.

I wanted a Midway cabinet to begin with because they are good solid wood and was small enough to fit in my SUV lol...it was a gutted Super Pac Man that was converted to Time Soldiers...there was really nothing left but a shell...I was really happy to get it though...just trying to figure out what i want to do to get it going now.
