so I am finishing up a game for my man wmacmanogle that happens to have a crt computer monitor.

everything is fine, it's ready to go, so I slide the game around and I notice the screen go in and out for a second, randomly.

I reach over to the on/off switch and push it, fine. game is perfect

I notice it's a little loose, so I push it (softly) again, and it falls off.

now no screen. I can't get power to turn on (the monitor) now.

Can I bypass the little on/off function of hte monitor and have it ON at all times somehow?

Is it as simple as connecting the points with a piece of metal?
I don't know, lol.
he is waiting for hte game, I told him tonite, now maybe not :(

guess I need to go look at it, and see if I can just turn it on and it stays there without the on/off button.

the whole freaking button assembly fell off though, and fell apart.

ok, this is unlikely to happen to anyone ever again, lol.
but I figured I would give an update.

I used a crt computer monitor in a generic cab for a 60 in 1

took the plastic casing off of the monitor prior to mounting it in the cab, hence the on/off switch didn't have the stability it might have normally had with the original case surrounding it.

Any idiot could have figured out how to fix this I am sure but I am updating it anyway. :)

The point where the on/off button fell off was left 6 very small metal prongs. After some testing, I determined that the 2 bottom prongs to the right of the on/off switch(looking at it head on) were the bypass prongs.
I dropped a bit of solder on them and voila.

Kinda mame territory here but a very similar issue that I will never forget now is to be certain that the monitor that I've decased and about to squeeze into my cabinet is turned ON! Man it sucks to install a computer monitor and forget that you never turned it on and have no way to get at the power switch!
