I have an Exidy Crossbow and I am getting no sound and an "audio power down" warning on boot screen. I have correct power and all solder points look good. I have replaced 6809 chip for the heck of it and did not help. Is there anyone familiar with this problem and can point me in the right direction. Thank you.

I have 4 board sets a while back. A few of them had the same problem. I replaced the ribbon cables, but it didn't help. I also re-flowed the header pins, and reseated all the chips. I ended up having to send them in to ElektronForge for repairs. They did a great job. They are pricey, and not too fast, but when I got them back, every board set worked like a charm.

An "audio power down" error is typical Exidy System 440 misinformation. It just means that the main board is not getting a response from the audio board. There are lots of things that could cause that, including a hardware mis-match (there are some undocumented hardware differences between Cheyenne, Combat, Chiller, etc.) ROM problems, RAM problems and so on. Basically anything could be wrong with the audio board.

Yes, I admit we are sometimes a bit pricey on the System 440 stuff. It takes a lot longer to fix than most other types of boards that we work on.
