I see that they seem to command about the same price. Have you played both/ Do you own both? Which is the better pin? I am picking up a TOTAN this week, but a Creature also popped up for sale near me. The TOTAN is shopped, the Creature is rough but working. The price difference is about 7 bills. Which would be the better value? Thanks pin guys.

LOVE the tales game, think creatures is overhyped. ball is hard to see on playfield, repetitive, voice clips are obnoxious. and they want over 500 to replace that hologram. yuck.

Holy shit. The transformation has begun. You'll be picking up both and leaving us vid guys behind. Please remember us, we'll have fond memories of you. Farewell. *begins to sob quitely*

I am a sucker for that old Drive-in Theme, which is why Creature appeals to me, but I KNOW I love the look and feel of TOTAN. I'll stick with the TOTAN. For now. I think if I ever picked up another 3G+ pin it would be Creature though.

I've played both extensively, and there's a CFTBL nearby on location. Both are good games. I personally like TOTAN better--the flow, curvy ramps, smoothness--shots seem more 'satisfying.' CFTBL is more of a stop-and-go game, lots of pause-and-think, although the 2 ramps are easy to hit and do come around pretty fast.

Creature hands down!!! very challenging game... Alot of hidden Easter eggs. One of my all time favorites

I have a lot of time on both. A creature in the condition you describe is a low $2,000 game. Check the hologram too, as that is where the real money is. Does it work, can you see it, is it blue? Makes a HUGE difference. Creature is a different kind of game. It only has a single 2-ball multiball and your real only objective is to spell F-I-L-M to start it. There are other things to do, but none (short of a well done move your car) that give you big points. Jackpots and Super Jackpots multiplied during multiball are where it is at. Creature is very love/hate with the gameplay, partially obscured playfield and throw back theme. It is more of a skilled player's game than TOTAN. Casual players and guests will prefer TOTAN.

I'd say that TOTAN is the safer bet for someone that isn't hardcore into pins.

I own both. They are very different games. TOTAN is like TOM in many ways. CFTBL is an unique playing game. There are a lot of games where you hit the toy in the middle of the playfield (TOTAN has the Genie, TOM has the trunk, AFM has the mothership, MM has the castle, CV has the Ring Master, etc). CFTBL is unique being a very packed playfield with some long ramp shots and a cool old school drive-in theme. I like both games but if I had to pick I would say CFTBL.

I'd probably try to talk down the Creature price and fix it up. If you could get it for less than $2k it would be a pretty decent deal. That gives you some room for repairs and some funding left over for that next pin.

I like both, but would totally pick up Tales over Creature.

Especially since, in my area, Creature seems to show up for sale fairly often, but I've only ever come across one Tales for sale locally.

Got a lot of play time into both, and both are totally awesome. 2 really great themes too, but gotta go with Creature on this one. Love the music, love the quotes, loooove that big ramp, and you get to punch a guys head off.

so does everyone that commented on this thread get invited over for free pizza and pop and free play for a few hours? ;)

Having a Christmas Party on Saturday, stop on by. If you make it past security you are more than welcome to have a snack, down a beer and play a couple of games, sure.

TOTAN easily, but both games have their faults. CFTBL is very linear, almost Sys11 linear. May not be an issue for some, but for the price it commands after I restored mine it left quickly!

TOTAN like most Popadiuk games except WCS is too easy. You can buy your way to the "Wizard" mode. Its a beautiful game though and definitely worth having at least for a little while.

If I had to choose I would pick CFTBL, its a fun game. But so is TOTAN. If you are truly stuck, then might as well go with the lesser priced.
