Figured I should log my progress on the CK I'm working on.

I wouldn't call it a "restore" since it's not a dedicated cab, but more of a re-imagining of a Crazy Kong...

I picked this up for $100 without a monitor. The cab is a Stern Scramble cab that had spent some time outside and was in some rough shape.

But after throwing in a 19" Wells monitor, the game fired right up!

It has a marquee and CPO that look pretty cool, so I designed a matching bezel and some side art that I'll use to finish it up. I figure since it's not original, why not make it unique...

Here are some before pics.

I took some pics of the inside to document where everything goes once I'm ready to put it all back in.

The inside of the cab doesn't look to bad at all. It needs a good cleaning, but all in all, it's in good shape.

It's not easy to see by the pics above, but the bottom of the cab was in really rough shape.

I started by trying to bondo it, but the outer laminate of the ply was so rotted, it was just falling away. So I decided to remove the outer ply and replace it with some ABS laminate.

Here are pics of the removal of the ply and after it's all removed.

Next step is the ABS...

Stay tuned...

I finally got to working on my Crazy Kong project again. I got the sides sanded and the interior parts painted. I'll be doing the bondo work and filling the imperfections on the sides before putting on the laminate I have.

I saw some Crazy Kong side art on Escape Pod Arcade, but I've also designed some original stuff. I don't know which fits in best with the motif I'm going for.

Here the escape pod side art:

Here's the side art I designed:

And here's the bezel I designed that I'm going to use:

Opinions?

Looks nice. I noticed, it appears as though that board is running on the original Stern/Konami harness. Out of curiosity, does that mean a Falcon CK board could plug into my Scramble? That would be pretty cool.

Actually, I took the by Falcon off the side art because I'm not even sure if it's a Falcon board. So I really don't know if you can do that or not...

After a lot of work, it's finally done.
