Alright so I sold this old mac book my mom gave me. I stated the laptop needed to be fixed and put as is and no returns in my auction. Now the buyer gets it and says the speaker is hissing now this is new to me so I say I will refund your money please mail the laptop back. Now this where its gets crazy he flat out refuses to mail it back unless I send him 17 dollars for shipping. He only paid me 14 I explained to him that I was breaking my own rules taking the return but that I would not pay return shipping. So long story short he has filed a paypal claim to which I said I would gladly refund your money once my item is returned. Not sure what to do here some people really urk me. Should I pay the return shipping or tell him to take it up with paypal whom wont make me pay the return shipping anyways.

I know I told him that he doesnt care. Just annoys me becuase now my paypal account is on hold.

Don't pay for the return shipping. Paypal will require him to ship the item back to you before they refund his money. He will need to provide them with a tracking number to prove he's shipped the item. Paypal can only place a hold on your account for the amount that the buyer paid.

I would say "Buyer Beware". He should have read your complete posting to know it was sold "as is" with no returns. Tough. PayPal will support you on this one.

.

I really wanted to avoid negative feedback here. Too late I guess Im sure he will blast me as soon as this is settled.

he has a certain amount of days to ship it back to you once he started the claim. so sincehe refuses to pay the shipping, paypal will release your funds once time passes the due date and he has not privided vaid tracking number

Beware of the buyer "monsterfishowner." I sold a broken macbook and he continuously bashed me for things I "didnt describe in the auction" and that its nowhere worth what he paid for it. He is a real scumbag. Not sure who youre dealing with in this case, but if somebody ever sells broken Apple products, block this dude.

Don't give in. Don't give the guy any money. You tried to be more than fair and the guy was a dick. Let ebay/paypal handle it from here.

Um yeah he bought a $14 computer. I'd tell him to go f*ck himself and let him deal with paypal. Don't pay that prick a dime until you get the merchandise back and then only refund the purchase price.

Under "normal" curcumstances, as a customer service, I would offer a full refund plus shipping, but I would hold the refund (again, including shipping) until I received the item unharmed. Also I would disclose the shipping amount, not the buyer.

You listed it "AS-IS", but my question is did you clearly state it as "untested" or "not working"? If so, why offer him a dime? He clearly either didnt read the item description, or dosent care, or is trying to scam you.

What I would be worried about, if he is pulling a fast one. He buys your laptop, you ship laptop, he recieves laptop, removes the hard drive and motherboard, he then puts his burnt up motherboard and hard drive into your latop, and then files a claim that you gave him a bad laptop, he walks away with his money and now a working laptop, with your parts in it. So if he does ship it back, check it for tampering.

yeah, but you definetly got that guy back!

This is exactly the situation I loathe as a seller, some buyers don't take into account, hey I just bought something off the internet for super cheap so I don't expect perfection. Further, most don't read the description so they don't know what to really expect anyway.

I'm convinced some buyers do this for entertainment in an attempt to see how much free stuff they can accumulate and when forced to ship it back or shut up, they'll blast the seller's feedback.

Well I offered him partial refund and he took it. Who knows if I got ripped by this person but at least he had the common sense to settle early.
