This guy posted an "antique" Kings of Steel pinball with rotting rubbers. Link: http://syracuse.craigslist.org/for/1360197896.html I emailed him for a price and he said he has been told that refurbished it is worth $3000 to $5000. He thinks he should get $2000 the way it sits. I wanted to email him back and wish him luck but, who knows? There might be somebody out there with more money than brains!

Email him back, wish him luck, and give him your best offer. Tell him if he reconsiders what he thinks it's worth and he's willing to part with it for your offer that he's welcome to email you and you'll come back and take it.

Still, the ad is horrible. I don't understand why he took pictures from the other side of the room. There has to be more wrong with it than dried out rubber rings.

The guy just emailed me back to say that his previous price was "off". Now he is asking $600. That price is obviously better but we're still talking about a non-working game here. It does not look that interesting to begin with. Anybody have any experience playing one of these? Thanks.

A Kings of Steel on Mrpinball was listed at $600 working, but sounds a bit rough cosmetically. Factor in the MrPinball overprice by 30% rule, and you're got a $400 game there.

With this in mind, you need to know Does it...

...turn on?
...accept coins?
...start a game?
..score properly?

Also, how does the backglass & playfield look?

With the information you have (cracked rubber & long distance pics) I'd say it's worth around $75-100. If the pf & bg look good, & it plays properly, then maybe $300-400?

He says it is working...

I thought about it. Don't think that the girl would like me to buy it though.

His email to me said that there was a ball "stuck" in it and he didn't feel like taking it apart.

That not good.

He has the keys. Turn the key, slide the glass, get the ball. He can't take 2 minutes for a (potential) $600 sale?

i offered two hun he said he spoke to his son in cali who told him how to turn on the switch and the game is now working but the ball was stuck would this change the offer.still no one knows the actual condition,i just saw a working one in weschester sell for 450.00

You need to tell him $200 is your base price, but that price will vary based on what it looks like and get in there to see it.

You may look at the boards & see acid damage, playfield wear, broken plastics, flaky backglass, rat's nests, etc. No one will be able to provide an accurate value without much more detail.

I told him I could not offer more than $200 without seeing close-up pictures of the playfield, backglass and body. He has not responded.
