Crazy conversion picture

WOW!!! I wondered where that Dambusters ended up!!!!! Dambusters was one of the games sold to me by Eastern Music in 1983 when everything went bust...I bought it brand new for $500...it was a REALLY neat game but it made NOTHING---I mean NOTHING....$2.50 a week! So I converted it to Zaxxon (which made $7.50 a week)! (I also bought a brand new Tranqualizer Gun for $200 (Sega) and tried to vend it and it made nothing, and I converted that to a QIX which made a little more than nothing.....I had too much time on my hands.
Anyway, I sold that Zaxxon out of my driveway in 1984 for $300 or $350 I believe to someone in northeast philly! Never knew what happened after that! Still working after all those years!!!
Don't shed alot of tears....as I offered a Gamatron Space Bugger a couple years ago here on the newsgroup for $200 which I also bought brand new for $500 the same time as Dambusters...although that made some money, I also sold it to a homeowner back in 1988 for $300 and got it back in a trade! Even though it was so rare, no one wanted to pay $200 for it...It sold on EBay to a guy in NJ who promptly made it into a Multicade (the wells Gardner 4600 monitor was like new).....Todd

Great story, Todd! I love hearing about the crazy travels games have taken.

Did you actually have conversion kit versions of Zaxxon and Qix, or did you use the guts of Zaxxon and Qix cabs you converted into other things?

Kyle

back then...the vendors were converting other games like mad...so you could buy a zaxxon board and harness for $200...I remember converting aq cockpit cinematronics Tail gunner 2 to a Strategy X by stern...had to put color monitor in...I converted it because the tail gunner kept breaking down...the strategy X never made a dime though...but was great cockpit play...

With Todd's cool story, we need to preserve the pictures for when Ebay deletes them...
