I just purchased a really nice Asteroids game that has been used only a few times over 15 years - When i got it home after transport, i fired it up but monitor was dead. I turned it off made sure the connectors were secure to the monitor - turned it back on and it worked fine. I cleaned all the connector pins with an eraser and still keep getting the same problem - When cold (left off for a few hours) and I turn it on the monitor wont fire up, i then turn it off and then turn it back on and it fires right up! Any ideas as to what could be causing this? THis is a new one for me... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Have you re-flowed the solder on the connector pins?

My Asteroids monitor worked much like yours and discovered the solder joints had cracks in them, re-flowed them and all was good.

Thanks

busted out the magnifying glass and low and behold - much cracking! Must have been the years of inactivity or the transport... anyway re-soldered all the cracked pins and it works like a champ! THANKS for all you help XX and Mistu!

Damm solder. They need to make a kind that lasts longer than 30 yrs LOL. Glad to see you found your issue!
