Anyone ever had this done? I sold a game to Retro over in Australia and would like to get it crated. Is there someplace you can take these to have it done professionally? Or does anyone from the forums in Northern California know how to do it that might be interested in helping out for some cash?

I don't know the know-how to do it right or the time really. Tips? Tricks? Help?

Thanks!

Do you have basic tools like a circular saw or anything you can cut a 2x4 with? Basically get a free pallet of CL, pad the game a ton with stretchwrap. Place on pallet, but a set of ratchet straps, strap game to pallet, then build a 2x4 frame to encase the game, cover that will plywood. Most materials can be had from CL because your not building a house, so secondhand materials are fine.

I have some tools but I don't have a place to store it once it's crated. I don't have a garage and I wouldn't be able to fit it back out my door once it's crated inside. And I don't want it sitting outside in the weather even inside a crate. Plus I don't really have the time to spend gathering all the materials and crating the thing anyway. Was hoping I could just drive it somewhere and have it done.

I sent a Galaxian cocktail table to the UK years ago. I don't remember doing anything special. I did have a guy once build a crate when shipping me a game. He put it on a pallet and built the crate around it but neglected to cover the game or strap it down. The drywall screws holding the sides on made some nasty gashes in the cabinet. So my working Depthcharge was all scraped up when I got it. I e-mailed the guy and never heard back. I guess since he only got $100 for his game, he didn't care how or if it arrived.

Sorry if I jacked the thread.

I put an ad in the local free advertisement-only paper about 16 months ago that read, "Wanted: Someone to build custom entertainment center." and for six weeks the phone calls and emails drove me insane. There is no shortage of carpenters, wannabe carpenters, and would-be carpenters in east Texas; I imagine that northern California is pretty much the same.

I recognize that people would expect to make a lot more for building a custom entertainment center than for building and storing a crate, but you might be pleasantly surprised if you just go fishing.
