to drop and the string unspools and winds up backwards often
getting stuck in the wheel

ive replaced and tested the up/down switches

any help appreciated this is driving me nuts.

also it doesnt do it every time

If it's a Smart crane, contact their tech support.

i did they never answer the phone or return my calls. lol

i have called them numerous times and left messages.

oddly their PARTS department always answers ;)

We had the same problem your crane did about two or three years ago with a Smart Candy Crane on location.

Turns out it was the motor gearbox so we had to order a new motor assembly. Our crane had a lot of miles on it and was getting excellent play. Later on, we had to buy a new wiring harness for the trolley because of nagging intermittent problems with the claw not closing. There were several broken wires inside the harness. Since this crane is a money maker, we invested in a brand new wiring harness. We ordered directly from Smart's parts department.

You most likely have a break in the harness. You need to disconnect
the harness from the CPU, locate the two wires that go to that switch
and put a meter on them with the meter set to continuity test. With the
switch closed, move the harness around and see if you get a break in the
circuit.

crane

with the game off....pull the claw all the way out so no string is on the pulley at all.....then turn the game on ...sometimes on some cranes it will rewrap correcting the problem

I would reflow solder on the main board where the connectors are and a lot of the components. Seems like I had a problem similar, crane bottomed out, cord rolled up wrong way and crane stalled and it was a diode at D0, D1, or D2, can't remember exactly. Meter those three for the heck of it. Got that tip from Smart Tech guy.

your control board should reverse the motor when the claw bottoms out on the toys. Since you are sure the switches are good, I would assume you have either a open in the wiring, or the board isn't working properly. The bottom switch is hard to see in the video, is it actuating when the claw starts to drop? Also... the string itself is about half the correct length.....it needs to be replaced. The blue switch tells the board to reverse the motor and seems to be working correctly.
