That is all..........................

Got burnt on two scheduled pick ups today. No morals with sellers sometimes. Geez

JJ

I honestly think it's a reflection of the current economic state. Not very many honest people selling things now days whether eBay, craigslist or other means.
And trying to sell something on eBay or craigslist is just as bad as trying to buy something...

Lately it seems if it's listed on craigslist, it's automatically assumed you'll take 20% less when they arrive to pick the item up if they even bother to show up.
And with the eBay/Paypal monopoly, everyone gets screwed :(

Sorry you had bad luck today :(

Sorry jj beat you again. Lol seriously what was you picking up I haven't seen anything in a while or was it you going after my galaga.

I listed 3 beat up R/C planes with radios, batteries, and chargers for FREE on Craigslist today. In the box was an old receipt from the hobby store for over $200 bucks, and that was just one plane.

I had a bunch of callers, but held it for the first guy that had called.

He showed up a couple of hours later, picked up the planes and barely slowed down to say "thanks". I didn't expect anything, but damn, where has the common courtesy gone?

I never understood how Craigslist "worked" for so many people on here. I've never had much luck with it, although I DID just receive a $300 deposit about 10 days ago on a high end billiards table package that I sold to a guy who lives about an hour away from me. It will be interesting to see if the rest of the deal follows through. I kind of expected that I would have heard from him regarding arrangements for him to pick everything up by now...

I gave away a kinda "enh" couch on CL once. Some chick called my house in 2 minutes, her husband was at my door in 10. They were nice. It was the bitch that called me 30 minutes after I had changed the ad to "Taken. Couch is gone." to complain to me that wasn't so nice. She had the nerve to be pissed off at ME for giving away an item before she had time to call about it. Her tone was as if I had fucked her over. Obviously...I responded with a CLICK!

It's not a generational problem or even an economic once. CL just happened to put the regular assholes you would find using the newspaper's classifieds within easier reach. It also shined a big spotlight on our society's ugly "I got mine" attitude towards screwing each other.

Right after I hung up the phone with the first caller, I pulled the ad. No need to post an update on Craigslist, it just pisses people off and clogs up the searches.

I agree though, what was she thinking?

This is why I try to avoid CL. I know there are better deals there than from established sellers on eBay (and there are occasional issues on there too) but it's worth it to me to pay a little more to avoid all this bullshit... I just consider it the "anti-douche premium" ;)

There are so many dirtbags that just sit there refreshing the free section 8 million times a day trying to find stuff to snatch and resell. I've dealt with them many times and they are just rude assholes. I put up 5 different free ads a while back and had the same guy send the exact same reply for every one, "I'll take it". He came and picked up an old TV from me about a year earlier and was a rude jerk, not thankful at all or even looked like he had a happy moment in his life and it was my fault. The other ones that piss me off are the picky ones who dig through the stuff your giving away and make a mess, I quit letting people do that. Either they take everything or they get nothing.
One thing I NEVER do is post my phone number in the ads, I scan the emails I get and select a person who spells correctly, uses punctuation and writes like a normal human would. Most of the time I meet people who are decent, once you start scanning the responses you can weed out the loosers for the most part.

i generally only sell on craigslist and then living in the middle of nowhere pays off. you want to spend two hours driving both ways to try and get 20% knocked off when you get here? no deal! have a fun ride home...

In this case, he might've rushed out because he thought he was getting away with something. "I'm gonna leave before he changes his mind." I've had this happen quite a few times when donating items...
