Craigslist: sometimes, it's awesome (my new score)

Like always, I'm torn re: replacing the CP. I've always rather liked the wear you can see on metal control panels; I think it adds to the story of the game. Purely an aesthetic choice, though - no doubt it would look a lot "better" with a new one. Still undecided.

I'm very happy that it has both original white-ball joysticks. I can't imagine they're easy to find.

Spent some time yesterday putting this thing together. Taking it off the pallet took forever because I had the wrong tools. But, I got the feet on, got all the glass in, got the PCBs in, and fired `er up. The cabinet is a little beat, but definitely restorable, and it's all working great. Man, is Crazy Climber fun! Absolutely love the gameplay. Joysticks working well.

Two things about the bezel: 1. You can see the wood through the empty instruction windows, but the rest of the woodgrain pattern you see is actually painted onto the glass - it's fake.
2. No instructions...does anyone have these?

There's a slight bend in the picture on one side, but the colors on the monitor look really, really good. It's a WG with a Toshiba tube:

Marquee has some paint loss, but nothing fatal:

Wiring and everything inside looks in good shape, and all original. Considering the cab is a bit beat up, the insides are really clean. Service switch and coin door works:

I really like the design on these Taito Trimlines. Separate cash box, with coin counter inside (and it's still working):

I'm going to enjoy it and might restore the cab later. For now, all it seems to need are some new coin door bulbs.

I'm expecting another Trimline sometime next week - it's leaving its location in better shape than this one, but will see what the story is when it gets here. *fingers crossed*

I've had numerous Taito trimline cabs and they all had that painted woodgrain on the monitor glass. I hate it because it's always flaking and you really can't touch it up.

Nice game. I'm jealous.

I can see that happening, but at least the wood behind the glass looks a lot like the paint!

Nice game. I'm jealous.

Thanks. :)
