Saw an ad on CL in Texas for a machine that was posted back on 12/22. Seemed like a lost cause, but emailed him anyhow on 1/21 - almost a month after it was first posted.

The guy who answered was willing to ship the game. I figured a CL listing, shipped from TX from a private party, was pretty risky, but I really wanted the machine. So, after negotiating a price, I said "what the hell". Set up shipping...

This seller's communication with me was excellent, and here's what I ended up with:

Helluva packing job. Palleted & lots of wrap, signage, etc. But it gets better:

Aluminum flashing and ratchet straps. Nice protection.

Down to the Owens Corning insulation level. Hmmm - looks like a Taito mini. And...are those white joystick balls?

They sure are!

To answer some questions you Taito mini owners / fans probably have already:

*Yes, the original monitor glass and marquee were included. The seller wrapped them in a ton of bubble wrap and shipped them inside the machine. I haven't put them in yet.

*Yes, the speaker holes are gone. Looks like they were kicked in a long time ago, and the whole thing was replaced with a car speaker. The speaker area on these things rarely were spared the wrath of a gamer's foot, seems like...

The original back door was included. The monitor looks like it arrived intact. All of the PCBs are out of the machine, but included.

Also included were:

2 sets of Crazy Climber PCBs, one of them working
A set of Fire Trap PCBs
Manuals
Keys

He recently had the machine gone over, and it should (read: might!) work fine once it's put back together. *crossed fingers* :)

Nice work. Cute machine.
AWESOME DUDE!! Crazy Climber is cool shit. NICE!

Thanks guys.

The cabinet has some issues: missing pieces, brittle pieces, etc. But no water damage, and the inside is quite clean. I'll eventually make a thread in the restoration section and point out the flaws as I put it back together...

Very cool. That almost makes up for all the shams on craigslist. :D I'm glad to hear the game arrived safely.

Yeah - he said he was a collector. It showed; he obviously appreciated the machine.

That's awesome!

That dude did an amazing packing job.

He really did. He did a better job than most retailers who ship on a regular basis.

/QUOTE]

I really wonder about engineers sometimes. They go to school half their lives to learn how to build shit and then come up with speakers placed at foot level. You see dumb crap like this all the time. WTF?

Pretty sweet find! Congrats!

Thanks man!

Wow, that was really packed well.

I've got a control panel if you are interested (see bottom of pic)

Well now, that's interesting...check out the differences between your CP and my CP.

Mine looks orange in places where yours looks red; that's one thing. But the bigger difference I see is the outside border. Look how mine loops around the lower bolts, and stops there...

I wonder if there were diff. production runs?
