Bought another game off of craigslist for a bill and a half. Superbike, which is a donkey kong rom swap. The picture showed the game to be in pretty good shape. Went to pick it up. Great neighborhood. Nice house. Older couple, selling the kids game as they had moved out. The machine is in pretty good shape. The t-molding looks pretty good. Game still has the orange and blue DK buttons and nintendo 4 way joystick. Screen is very clean. The DK marquee is still there, but has been flipped around. The screen looks pretty good. It looks as though the game has only seen light use. Superbike's gameplay SUCKS! It's kind of a poor mans moon patrol. The guy had the key to the coindoor but not the back. Said he had never had it. Paid for the machine, loaded it and took it home.

Fuzzy picture of the game.

So with it home, i open up the coin door hoping to find some quarters or something. Toward the side of the game, i spot a little cardboard box. Inside it has the Superbike conversion instructions. Favorite part of the instructions, "if you have a problem, call Steve" I'm pretty tempted to call him and tell him that the problem is the gameplay sucks. Anyway, below the instruction sheets, SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the original DK roms!!!

All the years they had had the machine, playing this craptastic game when they could have been playing DK!

I picked up a super bike kit with a couple of dk kits a while back. I just thought "score" when I looked at the CP with the original buttons and joystick. Nice score. What a great price. Another $100 and you have a DK.

Man that is a crazy score! I wonder if under the plexi there is the original DK control panel graphics.

Is is bad to drill out the back door lock and replace it? I don't know if I would care about keeping the original so much.

Thanks all!
Don't feel bad if you havent heard of superbike. Pull it up on mame. I dare you. Just remember, you can't go back! You control a bicycle, that jumps holes and trees and fires forwards and up (selectlivly, not simutaniusly) at ballons that seem imposible to hit. It's bad! and not the good kind of bad.

Porky sounds bad too.

Haven't tried the original roms, but they should work with any luck(fingers crossed)

Don't know if i can wait for a key, so,

Can the marquee and light fixture be removed from the front, then reach through with a ratchet and extensions to undo the nut off the back of the lock?

I hate to drill it but i may have to.

Can the lock be replaced with one of the standard locks? I've got a bunch from bob roberts, and i'm trying to get all my games keyed the same.

It looks like the original DK bezel is there too. I think your flash in the pic is showing the ink from the backside.

You could get almost all the way back to DK for nothing!

Post the results of flipping the bezel, inquiring minds want to know :)

Yeah, I got it open by flexing the door enough thati was able to pull the bottom out of the slot.

Yup that is the bezel flipped around backwards. I originally said marquee, I meant bezel. Anyway, it's in real good shape. So once I get the rom issue worked out, new cpo, dk marquee, i'll be good to go. The sides are pretty good though a few spots on the front panel might use a little work.

Side art too. Damn I wish they tucked the DK marquee inside the cabinet.
