Craigslist "Score" (Also- new member intro!)

Hey, all. I'm fairly new here, and the arcade scene in general. My interest with arcade machines started many months ago; I'd always been a video game guy, and when searching "Atari" on CL, I saw and ad for a Kangaroo. I thought "Hey, I could own arcade games...at home!" Fast-forward to the beginning of summer, 2010. I got my first cabinet, a Neo-Geo MVS 4-25! She was loaded with Bust-a-Move, Metal Slug X, and Strikers 1945. I decided I like these games, so I decided to dedicate some unused space in my house to be my "arcade". One problem- I hadn't played/didn't have access to many of the "Classics". I knew what games were good, But for me, being born in the mid 90's (I'm 15), never had the chance to enjoy the classic games, In their true form (Sure, I had the Namco collections for Xbox, and Joust for NES, But these just aren't the same-right?). Well my time came when I visited Disneyquest, in downtown Disney, (Great place-I'll add pics/info if anyone wants) They had almost EVERYTHING (sans some more obscure titles). And better yet, everything was free! It's great to be able to see if you like a game, with out having to spend $.
So here I am, the night before I go to get my second cab, a craigslist find, a Burgertime. I enjoyed burger time very much at Disney, and was excited when I saw it pop up on CL. I was even more excited when I saw that it was in fairly nice shape, with a fairly nice price ($400). I called the guy and he said he "needed" to get 350, I asked if he could go lower, so now I'm paying 325 for the cab, and 25 for delivery (lol). Well, I'm pretty excited my Neo won't be lonely, anymore! I'll add some more pics the guy sent to me, soon.
That's it for now!

Wow getting two great titles on two ends of the video game spectrum starts you off with some great pieces. Throw in a Capcom fighter, williams, and a vector and you'll have some major range covered.

I have some big plans! I've made some Sketch-up models, and I may need some more space than a 12'x12' room! I'm really looking for a Galaga, frogger, Bosconican, Dig-dug, Joust, Missile Command, Tempest, and others. I may need to make another area for "Newer" games and pins? I'd really like a Marvel Vs. Capcom, and a House of the Dead. As for pins, I'd mostly like a twilight Zone, and Indiana Jones (The older one).
Oh, and BTW- I'm paying for my Burgertime, with money i got from change I gathered around the house! haha...

Nice work. I am in the process of re-planning my garage in SketchUp so all my games have a permanent spot. And I didnt see in your first post that you were only 15. Being 15 and having the ability to spend $350 for a game is very impressive. I am 20 and the most I have ever paid for a video (not counting my pins) was only $300, and that was for my Punch Out!! that I just recently got. Even more so now that I am restoring it. I just spent $60 in parts and I should be over $400 when all is said and done.

Another thing I can say is that when you tell your friends that you have an arcade full of games, you will be the hit of the neighborhood. Fair warning :)

Thanks! Yeah, I'm paying for my burgertime, and parts for my Neo, out of my "arcade fund", which, the base of consists of found change (big part of it) and my money (birthday money, ect.). I add to it every chance I get, and I'm at around $550. So, the BT will be quite a hit on it, but it will recover!
Edit: Yeah, My buds and I have played through MS a few times already, so I'm sure they'll be happy when I get a new game they can abuse! : D

Ah HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That is all I have to say to that. Well and...since when do 15 year olds get to have their own extra room????

Nicely done...it will be fun to watch how you progress.

Cool machine! I've had a Neo Geo on my want list since before I joined the site.

It's always great to hear when someone of the younger generation starts caring for these machines, epsecially considering the whole console generation thing. I'd hate to think they are all destined to the garbage dump when we are all old and dead.

What part of ohio?

We have an alliance here that look out for one another :D

Yeah, Tooz got it. Damn, you people are quick with the craigsist! I saw an ad for a free Asteroids and Space invaders, and it was got within the hour. I know it was a KLOV'er!
Anyway, I'm getting my change cashed today, and picking up the game. I'm from Zanesville, and the drive to Toledo would be a pain, thank God the seller is going to Cinci today, and is going to make a stop.

Man I hate corners. No matter how big your room is, or how carefully you plan the room out first, corners always screw with you. Welcome aboard sailor.

Awesome Neo Geo! I would like to get one of those some time. Your's came with some pretty nice titles as well. Congrats and welcome to the forums!

Found change around the house to pay for the Burger Time? I so want to live in that house :D

The kid's half my age and already scoring, lol. Welcome to the addiction...er....club! With a nice mix going, you should throw in a driving game and a Golden Tee, just to have something different.

Just picked it up! got it home, and let it assimilate to the new environment for a few hours, don't want any fried boards...At first, I was a little disappointed with the side art, but now I understand it's an old game and it's gonna have some peeling. Also, I feel good knowing I can get a stencil kit if I need too. The Front glass has some minor scratches, and some deeper ones too (Suggestions?). And the Bezel art is a bit faded. The CPO is in almost perfect shape, save for the huge wear (to the metal) area around were your palm hits. The T-molding is old and brittle, probably original. The game play has a few minor picture glitches, (Ladders moving to the left, etc.) but it's probably just the result of a dusty board, or dirty contacts, the cab basically has about a cm. of dust in the bottom. But overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase, especially for the price I paid!
(Oh, yeah! The seller broke off the key in the back, so he took off an extra $25! I was gonna change them anyway.)

"Arcade Fund" around $550
