I just got my hands on one of my favorite game..........duh duh duh duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sega's Virtual On : Cyber Troopers!!! And let me tell you it was a STEAL of a deal. A twin cabinet in working condition, monitors are lovely, the cabinet is a little scratched up but nothing to hinder play. Only $600 dollars and he included some extra control panels he found on ebay WITH joysticks because the originals have some wear. Working coin mechs and cabinet with keys. The left blue unit or master has 55550 on its odometer and the right pink or slave side has 93683.

Right now I have them loaded up at a friends house to play. I'll get pictures later, camera is at home. Wasn't too much of a hastle to move, guy lived approximately 10 miles from their dropoff point. Rented a 14 foot UHAUL and got them home and ready to play in less than 2 hours.

Ok right now all I could get is a pic of the extra controls the seller gave to me. He said the original sticks where becoming stiff and worn, so he got lucky and found some on ebay to replace them (no idea on the $ though). But I can see why he didn't even put them on yet, freakin controls are screwed into the cabinet using a large torque screw with a center post, so you would require a special screwdrive with matching head and hole in the center of the shaft just to get em off. Gotta spend some time looking for a tool for that........

I'll get pictures of the cabinets later because they are stored at a friend's place. He needed to hit the hay since he has to wake as early as 4am to get ready for work.

Guy even included these 2 matching colored fans and pads that he got so players can comfortably play longer and cooler.

That sounds like a 'security torx' screw. You can find the larger bits at well stocked automotive parts stores.

A few local collectors have these machines. I have only played it at an arcade against the computer but it was a pretty cool experience...

Great game, I always feel like I get my money's worth when I play. Love to see when people actually go for the huge machines. Have fun and post more pics!

I opened up the Master Unit (blue cockpit) today to take a look at the internals. The boards fit under the seat, along with a subwoofer, and everything else towards the rear. The locks were missing on that side thank god, because the coin mech keys do not unlock the slave unit's chair compartment.

They had a large white like sort of plastic sheet laying on top of the steel box that contains the Model 2 Board and Roms....obviously to protect against spills (it was hella covered with dust...so i cleaned). Opened the steel box to take a look and it seemed decent, still dusty but nothing like cobwebs. The fan they have mounted on the outside of the box may need some cleaning though. I can't get to any of the power supply stuff in the back lower cabinet, but I was able to reach the monitor. I didn't spend much time looking but it was a Hitachi CRT (i think 27")with remote control adjustments mounted under the control panel, which I did get a security torx to get that open.

I'll post pictures when I get home and get my USB cable for me phone. My camera battery died on me midst taking pictures of the Boards. But I have a question for those who certainly have more experience and know how of these machines than me. I was thinking if I were ever to use these for lets say a tournament and I wanted to splice the video from the monitors to a television so more spectators may watch. Is that possible? Lets just say I make a video connector that splits the video over two connections, one to the cabinet monitor and the other to a converter for maybe a standard television or computer monitor (VGA). Would that cause any issues? And would there need to be a amp to keep the video visible to the converter and television considering they may be further away from the cabinet than what the cabinet's video harness spans? See the Model 2 Boards run on RGB+Sync and one other I believe, maybe a ground so it sounds really feasible to me.

Ok heres the pictures done with my crappy 5 megapixel camera phone lolz.
On a side note the question I asked in my last post I will get a sketch up of what I'm talking about. I'll try the google thingy lolz.

Me compared to these behemoths! Even had me glasses on.

That reminds me I need to update the Serial Number on VAPS!

Excuse my rough up. Google Sketchup is going to take some time to get used to so I just wanted to make a simple presentation so I opted for MS Paint.

With this configuration I just want to insure no dmg will be incurred to the Model 2 Board or my monitors (my guess is no, but I'd rather hear it from a professional)? And if it will require a amp to boost the video signal if the cord reach 8-10 ft as an approximation?

The reason I ask is I thought of a simple idea for some future time to rent out a booth at one of my favorite local anime conventions to bring my cab and setup for people to pay and play. And then at a later time hold a tournament, but my issue is everyone gathering around the cabinet to watch a tournament. That would cause enough tension with the players themselves. So the idea would be to do exactly do as my sketchup does for each cabinet monitor. Therefore giving an audience the view of each player's screen. My biggest inspiration with this was to start up a donation fund for Japan's Earthquake disaster, and I was like what better way to do it was to be at a Anime Con. Charge 50 cents per play, half goes to donation fund, and other goes to running costs. People could get their donations worth and show support for those in need, especially since these conventions would probably not exist without the nation who brought us many beloved games such as Virtual On ^_-

Dude, sweet deal!

Like the buc-ee's stickers!

Haha, yeah I know. I think it may have been the previous owners who added the stickers all over the seats. But I like it, gives it a type of custom feel.

Guys told me the owner before them bought it off the arcade that ran it. He worked for NASA, not sure in what particular but if it rings a bell for any of ya'll local folks I'm gonna let you know its in good hands.
