I've been told the monitor inside the cab in question "crackles" every two seconds. I don't have any way of knowing what type of monitor it is, or seeing it in person to describe it... any idea if it would be an easy fix, or if it might not even be the monitor's problem at all? (I'm thinking bad board or harness but that may be wishful thinking)

A cracked flyback will cause arcing, but it should fail very shortly thereafter.

If enough dirt and grunge accumulates on the bell of the tube, however, you can build up a somewhat conductive path between the anode and dag ground, and get arcing that would continue. To fix that, simply discharge the tube, disconnect the anode, and clean the area around it with Windex. Don't scrub off the dag coating, but clean the grunge and carbon buildup off the glass around the suction cup, as well as the inside of the suction cup itself.

Of course, that assumes that the crackling you're hearing is arcing. Watch the back of the monitor in a dark room and see if you see arcing.

'crackle' in itself sounds like an audible phenomena.

I've seen lots of monitors that have a pop or a crackle sound and it turned out to be arcing from underneath the anode cap to dirty/dusty/humid places on the back of the tube.

Get more info or get them to clean it off after the monitor has been turned off for quite a while.

Had that sound recently in my KI2. It was arcing off the ground cable that was just hanging in the air and contacting the metal monitor frame. You should be able to visually see it.
