I got this cab from Fresno and brought home. Noticed sanyo monitor has about 2 inch long cracked. Lower front monitor.

My question is. Is it safe to power it up??????????????

I suspect it got cracked by sun glare

i surely did power it on (before i was acknowledge that was cracked) the picture is fuk up.. so i try figure why and i tried to adjust the pots but seem not working.. i just had to remove the monitor and clean since it s dust all over..

found the cracked.. arrgghhh

cracked monitor: trash?

i surely should keep the chasis/inverter/ etc but replace tube as if i ever find specific montior or i better off dump em all?

what s your 2nd opinion what i should do wtih this monitor?

Cracked tube is trash. Save the inverter board, sound board, yoke, chassis, etc. Save the frame. Tube itself is trash.

DARN IT!!!

Thanks..

i have to get specific same tube to work with or can find any tube to work with chasis?

Nah, any tube will work. I think you can make an LCD work with enough duct tape.

EDIT: Yes, you will need a very specific tube. Do some google searches about tube swapping. There's tons of information out there, but finding donor tubes is tough.

Other than matching the number of pins a tube is a tube is a tube. What really counts is the yoke. Pull the yoke off of the tube and use it on the new donor tube you find. I know at one point someone was makinga list of what TV's had what tubes in them. Search for it - I'm too lazy ;)

Wait... you're getting a messed up picture? On a tube with a crack in it? That's not possible. If the tube isn't under vacuum, then you won't get any picture at all.

You sure it's not a scratch?

No, you don't need a "very specific tube". Just one with the right neck pinout. Despite the name, the Sanyo is NOT a 20" monitor, it's a 19. A standard CR-23 neck 19" picture tube from a TV will work. Finding donor tubes is easy - just drive around on trash night and pick up junk TV's.

But, in any event, if he can get a picture on his existing tube, then it's not broken.

Now I am too chicken to power it on again! I dont know what it would do to me! =)

It does look cracked to me and maybe not deep enough yet.. More usage of this monitor may goes worst later on???

LMK thanks

That would be a scratch. You'd know if it were cracked. The face of a picture tube is at least a half inch thick.

Don't worry about it.

dont worry about it???

just plug in and hope i wont be "bye bye kansas" LOL!

okay thanks..

wondered if heat itself may will heat up and crack later on.. yes its very minor depth maybe 1/16 depth and since you said it s half inch wow it s thick as sollidddd!!!

hope this s good news so i can plug in and test my dk with it

If it were cracked all the way though, it would have just imploded and you would have a pile of glass already. There is no way a crack completely through the front glass envelope would just stay there like that.

Heat? well again I am not so sure this is a true crack, it looks like something just gouged the glass.

I am not an expert with the SanyoEZ's but it sounds like you might want to check the boards for the problem.
