CPS2 suicide?

Yeah man. Next time you're looking for a CPS-2 board, at least look here or ebay first. Unless you're not in the states and these things are genuinely harder to find in your part of the world.

How do I check feedback for a user, or did you not mean that literally?

Click on their name and go to their public profile. There should be some tabs for visitors message/About me/Statistics etc, etc, etc. The last tab should have an arrow. Click it and it will show feedback.

OR if you see them posting in the trading boards, there should be a direct link to their feedback underneath their name.

The holder is just a contact point (not a resistor)--so it transfers energy at 3.6 volts, same as the battery--unless it's corroded.

--------------------------

I've used KEYSTONE battery holders before. I have a few on some of my boards. IMHO, the tops seem to snap tight and the contacts seem to press tight.

BUT, I can see how the extra contact points, corrosion, and a loose fitting cover can all be concerns.

--------------------------

Here is a Keystone Battery Retainer Project by Tormod Tjaberg and JAMMAPARTS.com that briefly explains how to use these parts, if anyone wants see a KEYSTONE Battery Mod..

BTW: I have never had to drill a board.

-------------------------

And here are the parts for those who are interested or just want to check out the data sheets:

1. Keystone Electronics. Battery Holders, Snaps & Contacts Battery HOLDER PC 1/2 AA. Manufacturer Part #: 108. Mouser Part #: 534-108. (Holder)

Yeah the supergun I don't really mind screwing up.... I have high-quality ABC fire extinguishers all over my house for just this purpose! ;) And I know I can get a replacement.

The game I am very uneasy about messing up because finding a US version of one of my favorite games was a real chore and took over four years!

It took four years for you to find a XMvsSF? I'm assuming you mean a complete machine, not just the board, right!? I see them for sale all the time, in fact, I have a sale pending on one that should go through in a day or two...if not, I'll give you a holler if you're looking for a backup board...

No, I don't have a complete cab, just the A+B board and a supergun... I don't even have space for a cab... there were three things that made it take four years for me to find one:

1) My total inexperience on where to look (I even drove out to a few local arcades)

2) I don't trust ebay for anything (I'm new to arcade collecting, but not to the internet)

3) Most boards I found were either Japan/Euro or non-working and I wanted to play the game not fix it.

Could I have gotten it for less? Probably; but I don't regret it for a minute because it is one of my favorite games and have a lot of fond memories playing it with family and friends.

Spare board, not looking for one right now, my latest task is looking for a new cps2 ready supergun (by that I mean one I won't have to assemble) because mine is going to die soon being it's so old. I have a preorder in for one at SRK, but I have no idea when the guy will be ready to ship and I may not want to wait.

Thanks for the offer though! The people here are cool. :)

...and that's what counts.

We all learn the price/how-to-find lesson with the first one anyways. So don't let people discourage you about it. Now you know.
