I scored this cart off Ebay for $23 as the seller couldn't test it since they knew nothing about video games. I tried to ask him if it came with the bottom A board and tried to explain how these work, he just said "no".

I took a chance since he said it was heavy and assumed it did. Got it today and it works perfectly and came with the A board!! Should probably change the battery soon!

The only thing I did notice was a second sticker on top of the original. I peeled off a little off the bottom and it looks like it's the same.

Does anyone know how capcom did their upgrade for this cart from Zero 2 to Zero 2 Alpha? Did they swap roms and just slap a new updated sticker on it? There is a serial number of sorts on the stickers and the old one starts off SZ while the top one is SZA.

Had just bought one off ebay couple months ago by fluke (long story), but couldn't pass up this chance.

Thanks

Zero and Alpha are the same thing. They used different names depending on the territory. The grey A and B boards are not compatible with the blue or green US/Jpn types. You'll notice that the connectors on the CPS2 boards don't match.

I don't know why there would be double stickers but either one is fine. Asia typically went by Zero.

Alpha 2 is less desirable since its not he last version update. Asian Grey versions also are not very collectable but $23 is a decent price. I would value the matched pair for $40-50 "priced to sell since" no one really wants them.

I had read that Capcom released an upgrade for the asia and japanese markets becuase they didn't have Evil Ryu like the American version did.

getting that info from here:

Was just curious as to how that was done, I had assumed they made new carts but after seeing this, perhaps ops had to send them in and they were reprogrammed with the bonuses.

I'm a fan of Alpha 2 so I figured to try this version out since I read it was different. Looked for an asia version since it would be in english.

I have alpha 3 and I love it, but the Stages in Alpha 2 are way more awesomer.

Other members have explained the DOUBLE CAPCOM LABEL this way: CAPCOM either serviced the bard (like an upgrade) or re-used the case (like a factory sawap or conversion)--either way, the DOUBLE GAME ID STICKER on the case is CAPCOM work. Nothing to worry about.

Most collectors have CPS2 games and NEO carts with double labels on them.

I think I have an AvP board with a nice, clean DOUBLE CAPCOM LABEL.

I will have to check my other one to see if it has a double label or not. Don't really care about the labels like some do, was more curious as to what process they used to upgrade. It definitely looks like the regular Zero 2 label underneath as the Zero 2 Alpha label is identical but it says "Alpha" to the right of the 2.

It works so I'm happy! Now to find some time to play/work on them.

Thanks!

Different Roms sets I presume?

But now sure just which ROMs are different amongst the sets or if these ROMs are interchangeable.

Comparing ROM set # amongst the boards--I.D.K..
