CPS2 ROM size change - jumper pads

It's generally not worth the time/effort unless you are converting a cart to a rare one. You probably will need to also replace the PALs on the cart to support the game you want to convert to.

To top it off, you have to use the phoenix versions of the program ROMs because the codes in NVRAM that lets the game run won't work with the different program ROMs.

channelmanic since your here lol
my programer will be here in a few days
other than burning the phoenix roms for that xmen board i have that sucided and cleaning up the corsion is there anything els needed to bring it back to life

Yup!

You'll need blank EPROMs or a UV eraser for the existing ones.

Just a word of caution on those EPROMs... If they are the Hitachi version of the 27C4096 (Capcom LOVED to use those!) you'll want to erase them off center from the bulb... then move them over off center to the other side of the bulb and erase them again.

Hitachi has a chip inside the ceramic package that is bigger than the erase window. If you erase them the way I described you'll get them erased faster and with fewer issues. I pulled my hair out with those chips until I took a very close look at them. ;)

cool thanks
i ended up getting a eraser (12 chip cap) and a weilm 5.0 so im ready to go as soon as they arive

i hope i can just erase the old ones and repurpose them

one last ? do i need to jumper the spot where the old batt was ,leave it open ,or install a new bat.

Remove the old battery. There's no need for it beyond keeping the cart alive. The phoenix code makes it obsolete.

cool thanks again

so its only 2 chips i need to replace

Hi mate,

I actually have the ROM's and the PAL's needed (as well as a ROM burner, and the pheonix code), I was just planning on converting a spare board I have so that I can try before I buy the proper one. I'm looking at converting to Hyper Street Fighter 2 Anniversary - does not come up very often over here though!

Do you have the jumper layouts?

Cheers

Baker

Depends on speed and quantity... plus on how many of them I have on hand. PM me or email me and we can work out the details.

Hi mate,

Baker

I have the jumper settings for HSF. What motherboard revision are you using? The earlier revisions wont work. Not without extensive jumpering anyway. Give me a day or so to get you the settings.

Edit: are you trying to use the MAME set to convert to HSF? If so you will encounter problems.

You'll have graphics problems if you do. You'll need the hack set of GFX roms to get the game to display correctly. Believe me. I've tried SEVERAL different ways to get the MAME set to work.
