Got a pic? Is it a phoenixed board giving you a cps2shock error?

no still running battery and it has 3.6v and was running fin for many hours.. then i happen to look at it befor i started to cook dinner and it had some garbage on the screen shut it off... reseated the baords turned back on the it said ram error in the middld of the screen then just displays a few different screens or color then thats it.

ok i have only gotten to say ram error once... not when i turn it on it displays a pair of dots randomly all over the screen in two different colors...

The RAM is on the A board.

Which RAM did it say? There is more than one type...

Both the A and B boards have ram. The B board is equipped with dual 6264 that are often over looked. In your case however you most likely have a failure on the A board. In my case I have so many A boards it would not be worth my time to even fix it.

In general A boards are so cheap it definitely not worth paying someone to fix them or even worth buying the ram chip in this case to fix it as the price of the chip and shipping is almost the cost of just buying another A board. Its only cost effective to fix them if you do it yourself and have the parts already.

What ram failure are you getting, work, color, etc

Try plugging it into one of the other A boards you picked up. That should isolate which board it is.

The other option would be to open the case up and try pulling and reseating the RAM chips, if they were socketed. You may also need to clean the legs.

i woudl try and swap a boards.. but this is a usa blue and the others are the gray asian and they use different a boards so i cann't swap between them... already opened it up and they are soldered on... (this is the board i pulled from the "new area" we got to see.. and this was the cab right next to the melted pole position.. i got a friend with an "a board" im goign to do some pats trading with ...

you gonna trade a Pole Position to a friend?

WoW! It looks like you might have a mold problem in the basement or wherever that is. That can cause sever health problems.

That cab certainly did melt away. Did the cab melt there or just started to melt and finished there.

That was a pic from the warehouse raid that was in the general discussion area. The buildings the games were in were in various states of decay.

Trey, I may have an extra A board. I'll check when I get out to the shop later tonight.

No mold problem. It was in a warehouse with a roof that could have passed for a sand sifter. Any mold on the cabinets had to be in a sheltered spot to keep from washing away. If we hadn't had a severe drought for the last couple of years it wouldn't have even been that recognizable.

ok thanks to "Frax" ... i have found out that it is my game board that is funky.... i have gotten it to come up and it keeps displaying a ram error.. and then it displays randome stuff on the screen and then it goes to a white screen or sometimes a black screen... i don't here the games demo or any sound.. i have made sure all the chip are good and seated...

The had a segment on the news today about the drought there. The show one town that actually has to have water delivered. That same town, they showed docks that should be floating 40 ft just sitting on the ground.

I did not realize how bad it is there until I seen that in the news yesterday.

A few thing here make me think it might just be an easy fix. The sound section is probably not getting voltage and I would check the voltage at the ram chips also. While you are looking at the voltages on them ram chips, give all the legs the once over.

If the voltage is off the board will do many strange things.

You probably have a bad ram chip also.
