I have a phoenixed AvP that has been working for the longest time. Today when I boot up the cabinet, pink screen.

My troubleshooting steps so far:

1) Tested A-Board with another game. A-Board working confirmed.

2) Swapped all roms with a known working B-Board. Pink screen.

So it seems there is obviously something wrong with one of the roms. How do I test them to know which one is bad?

Solved. I learned that you need to short the capacitor as it builds charge over time even with no battery -- and phoenixed roms don't like it. Question for the electrical engineering inclined: Can I just remove that capacitor? Do I need to bridge it if I do so?

Hi I saw your post on FB too. I was the one who recommended removing the cap and shorting it altogether.

Some people like to put a momentary-contact pushbutton on both terminals after removing the cap so it stays "open" and if you ever get the pink screen, just push the button to short it. I personally just touch them with a screwdriver every few months. YMMV.
