Hey, I recently got my super street fighter 2 the challenger board phenixed. When I pluged it in I got thick jail bars on the screen and now when i plug it in it is yellow/green. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reseat the cart and the motherboard. Check for bent pins.

Beyond that, open the cart and put the cart board directly on the A board. If it works then you may have some broken holders in the cart shell that isn't allowing the boards to plug together tight enough.

Next, reseat the EPROMs...

If that's not it then WITH THE POWER OFF, short across the leads of the small electrolyic capacitor that's next to where the + lead of the battery used to connect for several seconds. If there's any residual data in the battery backed NVRAM you could end up with a cart that doesn't boot. Shorting that cap with the power off will drain the power to that NVRAM and allow it to clear.

I had a cps2 game that would make thick jailbars and it always happened after separating the boards and reconnecting them. It was just a matter of getting them seated together tight enough, but not too tight.

Here are some pics of what is happening, only half of the main menu is jail bared, no problem at the warning screen. But, the game is clearly unplayable. I have already tried reseated everything. I may give the capastor bridge a try. Anyone have any other pointers?

Look for bent pins between the bottom board and the cart. Try a different bottom board.

It would be nice if you posted what you did to fix it. The information might help others having the same problem.

my theory. lol

that's interesting though with the cap and NVRAM thing.

does clearing the backup memory only happen when you change games, or when you unplug the board, btw? cause when I was testing both my Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 with the same A board (before I fixed my other one) it would reset the settings.

I got the dark blue screen of death on mine after I replaced the batteries. but sure enough, doing what channelmanic said with plugging the boards together without the cover worked, put it back together and just went tighter. resolved it.

After further inspection One of the pins on the b board that connect to the a board was bent. Also, a very thin peace of metal was bridging the connection on one of the eproms. I cant believe I did not notice it the first time.

I'm just happy its up and running now :D
