Been having a solo debate with myself over this with no conclusion. What is everyone elses opinion about putting plexiglass over the CPO? I tend to think that it looks cheap and not necessary for light home use only. On the other hand, it will do the job of protecting the overlay, especially in the long run when it comes time to replace a hard to find cpo. How does everyone else weigh in on this??

Why should you have to replace your CPO on a HUO game? If taken care of it should last longer then your lifetime. If I put a new CPO on a metal control panel I woundn't bother putting on the plexi, and if I did use plexi it would be a brand new piece. It's totally up to ones perference, it's their game.

Plexi overlay will depends greatly on the CPO. I myself don't mind plexi, but prefer just when the overlay is on. However, some games like Street fighter used control stickers placed on top of the generic capcom overlay. In times like this, the plexi is necessary to keep the stickers from lifting and peeling.

If the plexi is nice and clean, without grime and spilled drinks caked under it, I think it actually can look quite nice on a game.

It depends on whether:

a) the game originally came with plexi on it - like my Rampage World Tour. taking it off would leave a lip around the edge from the t-molding sticking up.

2) the game came to me with it on and it looks nice as-is. I probably won't mess with it unless I ever try to go 100% resto.

3) it doesn't have it now and was never meant to have it, then I leave it off...

On certain games that have stickers on the control panel I'd say yes like my Shinobi Game. It has those foil covered stickers and if you breath on them they scuff and wear like a scratch off ticket....
