I have a long list of restorations that have continued to pile up over the past 6-7 years. The wife gave me a deadline of Thanksgiving to clean-up the basement...which really can only be accomplished by completing my restorations because my basement looks like an arcade graveyard of parts.

I'm going to use this tread to track my progress over the next 11 months....wish me luck, currently none of my games are playable.

Punchout! Done! update on March 11th
Track and Field - update on March 11th
MutliWilliams - update on Feb 21st
Pacland
Ms Pacman
Rootbeer Tapper
Centipede (Cocktail)
Sega Turbo (Mini)
Donkey Kong (Scratch Build)
Bag Toss (Empty - Convert to Horizontal Multicade)
Burgertime
Scratch Build (Black melamine, exact copy of Ms Pacman)
Scratch Build (Wood, exact copy of Burgertime)

Most likely, these will be sold off....
Pacman (empty shell)
Turbo Upright
Donkey Kong (empty shell)

Punchout!

This restore is well on it's way. I made the mistake of installing the new CPO and refurbishing the joystick/buttons....once the game was quasi-playable, the restore efforts stopped. Painting the new plexiglass will have to wait until spring.

Open items - Paint Plexiglass Bezel and Replace back door sheet!

March 11th

I still need to paint the black border on the plexiglass bezel and find a back door sheet but otherwise, I am done! More pictures to follow when I get the time but the inside of the cabinet is spotless. Everything has been refurbished from head-to-toe. I've come to learn that I'm horrible at Punchout....I still can't beat Kid Quick.

Track and Field

My all-time favorite game. This restoration is well on its way and will ultimately have a switcher to play both Track & Field as well as Hypersports. This has basically a NOS monitor with under 5 hours of use when placed into the cabinet.

Open Items - Cardboard bezel, new plexiglass, paint plexiglass retainer, new speakers, cut/install lock on backdoor. Replace battery on PCB.

Completed - Sideart, marquee, painted marquee brackets, repaired the original marquee light fixture, clean-up wiring from PCB to power supply, install switcher for Hypersports, paint coin door, Re-assemble coin door

March 11th

Coin door is done...well, almost. I miss placed the hinge and someone hacked the molex to death.

MutliWilliams

This was a Moon Patrol that had been converted to Boxee and needed significant body work. It has been painted and I have a Jrok multi-Williams PCB. I plan to design the control panel and related artwork to support Robotron, Joust and Bubbles.

Open Items - paint marquee brackets, cut wood support for control panel, install joysticks/buttons and paint upper coin door. Design custom and install artwork for CPO, sideart and marquee.

Complete - Wire the jamma harness, wire power, attach new backdoor, design bezel artwork, paint lower coin door, patch upper coin door

Feb 21st
I got this control panel from Arcade Shop but I'm not thrilled. The pressed studs are a problem since some don't sit flat. However, the worst part is the area where the stud is pressed has created a raised dimple in the metal itself....so its not like you can bondo over the stud to make a smooth surface since the metal itself is raised. You would need to grind the surface of the control panel to get it smooth. Ugh!

I also patched all the holes in the coin door and finally got it primed. It is ready for paint once I get the time.

Pacland

This was in so-so shape when acquired. It had battle scars, I fell in love with this game and wish I saved the restoration until last so it had been playable the past few years. This has been stripped to the bare wood.

Open Items - Sadly, everything.

Ms Pacman

This game is nearly playable and the cabinet is in nice shape.

Open items - Rebuild joystick, strip control panel and install new CPO, cap monitor, install kit from Highscoresaves and replace powercord.

Centipede (Cocktail)

Progress on this stopped when I started to encounter issues with the monitor....actually 2 different monitors.

Open items - Build player 2 control panel and install CPO, install new glass and table top artwork, paint glass clips, refurbish coin door, install end caps on metal legs and FIX the MONITOR!!! (Ugh)

Sega Turbo (Mini)

This cabinet was a complete mess and suffered significant water damage. I have all the parts (except the sideart) to complete the restoration. However, this is going to be the most time consuming and probably the last to be completed.

Open items - Everything.

Donkey Kong (Scratch Build)

I built this cabinet from scratch. It has been painted but that is all.

Open items - Everything but painting.

Bag Toss (Empty - Convert to Horizontal Multicade)

This cabinet was a empty and missing the control panel but a cheap score. I plan to make it into a horizontal multicade for fighting games.

Open items - Everything

Burgertime

One of my favorite games. The cabinet has battle scars but I love the game and cabinet design.

Open items - Paint around the bezel and kickplate artwork, new t-molding, cap the monitor, new CPO, refurbish the joystick, polish pepper buttons and paint the coin door.

Rootbeer Tapper

This has been converted several times. At one point it was a Wheel of Fortune. It is beat-up around the edges, needs the bezel, marquee, sideart, etc but I do have a working boardset!

Open items - Basically everything.

Scratch Build (Black melamine, exact copy of Ms Pacman)

This is a beautiful cabinet but I'm not sure what it will become at the end of the day.

Open Items - TBD.

Scratch Build (Wood - Burgertime)

Another labor of love. I would like to find someone to paint the stencils to save me some time. I have feelers out locally but I'm not confident. I hate to go down the path of vinyl sideart.

Open Items - Everything.

that's a tall order, but, i'm excited to follow the thread and see how it goes

good luck ... can't wait to see the glow of all the games lit in the basement!

Multiwilliams

Feb 1st

I test printed the custom artwork for the bezel in black and white to ensure it fits. The design is based on the Robotron cabaret bezel. Now I just need to wait for it to be printed/applied to the plexiglass.

Track & Field

Feb 5th

Completed - Marquee, painted marquee brackets, repaired the original marquee light fixture.

The original marquee light was salvaged by transplanting components from a spare light fixture into the original housing and replacing the starter. It fired right up but...there was a gap between the marquee and cabinet that was leaking light and exposed some of the support bracket. The solution was to use a piece of plastic from an old/very cheap poster frame. I never had much luck finding a source for the "spacer" that you see on some of the Midway games like Burgertime or Pacman. Effective solution and I'm not sure anyone would even notice the modification.

Track & Field

Wiring inside the cabinet is finally done and I added a dedicated Konami switcher. Next step is clean-up the Hypersports PCB which is beyond dirty.

And sideart! The restoration project is starting to round into form.
