I have alot occupying my mind these days, and I would love during my lunch break to be able to do what many of the working class from the 70s-80s could do without batting an eye: go into an arcade and blow off some steam playing games.

There are only 2 places near my work that have any games that I know of, one's a beat to crap Ms Pac that needs a new joystick, and the other is a restaurant that has 2 pins. I wish there was still a mall with an arcade in it that I could go to at lunch and waste a few quarters in. And sadly, Crabtowne's too far from my job. :(

For the people who were working during the 70s and 80s and had this privilege available to you BITD, I envy you..

Guess I'm lucky. Of course, I had to rebuild my lunchtime arcade spot. And continue to fix it....

Having a free-to-play arcade at home has really dampened my enthusiasm for paying $1.00 per game at a commercial location. And the newer games don't hold my interest for very long. Now, having an arcade in my office, now that would be great! Probably frowned upon, but great!!!

If you need a gaming fix during lunch why don't you get a portable gaming system like PSP with some emulators? Or use your laptop if you have one and play some MAME.

I know it's not the same as playing an arcade machine, but sometimes I'll take my GBA SP to work and play some Street Fighter Alpha 3 during lunch. It's good gaming and takes my mind off of work. I can even play Black Tiger emulated on the GBA SP. No sound though. Pocket NES is good too.

That's what makes the closing of my favorite arcade even more bitter. It was within walking distance of my work (at the time it was within walking distance of my apartment as well)

Now there is nothing.

I actually had this luxury yesterday; worked from home (something I get to do rarely) and realized I had a bunch of Dave and Busters tickets laying around, so I ran there to trade them in, and of course, it wouldn't be right to NOT play something. Got in a couple rounds of Basketball to get the blood flowin. Made my day!

Some days at the office when I need a boost I go up stairs to to the arcade and that does the trick. Some times I actually forget to go back down stairs to work, but with thirty games and ten pinballs going it is easy to forget.........
