Finally got my JAMMA test harness finished and started working my way through the JAMMA boards and ran into a graphics glitch with Children of the Atom. The backgrounds look ok, but the character graphics have orange boxes around them. I tried getting pictures but my digital camera is acting up again.

Has anybody had this happen before and how did you fix it? I'm guessing the standard "reseat the ROMs", but I wanted to check before screwing something up.

Because these are sealed units, how do you pull it apart without damaging it to reseat the ROMs?

Thanks for any help.

It could be that,or it could be that the A and B boards simply aren't making a good connection. You might try to pull them apart and reconnect them. And if you have a torx driver and a t20 torx bit,you can remove the 4 screws to get to the board and reseat the ROMs if they need them.Hope that helps.

Thanks. I tried squeezing the boxes together pretty good. The other CPS2 box (Marvel vs Capcom) worked just fine. I'll try mashing them better, just in case.

Yeah,it can be tricky.I was testing a SFA3 earlier. The graphics were perfect, but the sound was all kinds of messed up.I turned it off, separated the boards and put them back together, making sure they were really snug...viola! Perfect running game.

Thanks. I went back upstairs and pulled it apart, then squeezed the boxes together firmly and it works perfectly (well, I only have 3 buttons since I haven't added the kick harness to my test setup :(). But I did manage to win a couple of matches as Wolverine :).

There appears to be a lot of flex in those cases. I will need to be a little more careful in putting them together.

It was very cool. For 2 "untested" Ebay pickups to get both working seems unreasonably lucky from what I've heard about these boxes and people selling suicided sets.
