Coolest Pin for the money

For that price range, I think that WC94 seems to get a lot of hits, for a reason. It was played heavily at the Rochester Game Show. I would search for a Whirlwind or a TOTAN (Tales of the Arabian Nights) if I was looking.

I have a love hate relationship with my Whirlwind. The game is just brutal and unforgiving which sometimes I'm in the mood for but more often than not I get irritated with it. My wife keeps playing it to get a HS on the board. She's not overly enthuised with it either. I notice when I have friends over they will all play a game or two and walk away never to play it again. They will play Funhouse and WCS94 all night long. Whirlwind (IMHO) is not a pin for kids and for that matter not a pin for non pinheads. I'm thinking I'm going to sell mine and get something else.

However I cannot say enough good things about WCS94! The two hardest shots is the TV award (major bitch to hit) and of course right to the right of it is the right ramp (did I say right 3 times?) which is also tough to hit.
I've made it to the World Cup 3 times now without a continue. However I have enabled the continue feature and find myself using it more than I care to admit lol. It's really a fun and deserves to be praised.

As you can see I'm not a fanboy of anything just because I own it. I think different strokes for different folks and is why a person needs to play before they pay (to own).

i agree with most of these, let me add fish tales to that list as well

it can be had 1100-2000 depending on condition

My ideal pin setup would be High Speed and High Speed II (Getaway). A nice matching pair, very similar tables, they sure don't attract a lot of the hobbyists around here, and maybe that's a good thing for me?

Price is so arbitrary on these, I would agree with the statements made before about finding something you like. The nice thing about pins is that if you do your shopping well and are patient, you can usually pick one up for a great price and flip it if you don't like it...

For those who think Whirlwind isn't for kids, check my video out :)

The most I've paid for a pin was 1675 and I have only paid over 1000 for one:
Twilight Zone, Whirlwind,Pinbot, Bride of Pinbot, Black Knight, Black Knight 2000, Centaur, High speed

My first choice for a starter pin would be Whirlwind or Pinbot. Pinbot's go all the time for 600-1200. I think those pins(and other Williams pins from that era) really let you learn how to play pinball. Yeah they can be hard, but the rules are deep enought to be interesting, yet simple enough to follow while you are trying to figure out how to really play pinball.

BK2000, STTNG, TZ and games like that are amazing...but, if you don't know how to play, I think you spend too much time trying to figure out what to do on the playfield, without really ever learning how to use the flippers well, or nudge the machine properly.

On a side note, after moving my Whirlwind to the hospital, and playing TZ for a few weeks, I went back to play a few games of Whirlwind and doubled my high score... However, I still suck at TZ.

That's my .02 x 50
