I recently did a 50 box buy out of NOS parts and in one of the Sega boxes I found this!

WOW thats cool.......... I havent seen a Space Harrier in many moons.. Its awesome these parts are still out there..

I wish. Even at my prices, it's nowhere near that. ;-)

Sega stuff was always ridiculous on pricing. I bet it was $599 list or something. My power drift upright needs a new molded panel and topper, but I've given up the ghost on that. If they still existed NOS, there is no way the game would be worth the investment. Contemplating parting the damn thing out, it's just so ugly. The board is worth more on its own than the entire machine is.

I may have those power drift parts you need. I know I have a used marquee housing in nice shape.

Oh, I'll check on the retail price of that seat when I get to the shop.

Back in the day this seat assembly would have cost an operator $558!

Ha! Holy crap. I was pretty close! Piece by piece, it'd probably cost $20,000 to part one together from scratch. I can see it now... "Wodden Cabinet Ass'y - $2148" (complete with spelling mistake). And that's just for an empty black cabinet. What would the boardset run? I'd guess $4399. Spaceport would do this, back in the day - buy an extra boardset if they were ordering 10+ machines of the same title.

If you by some miracle have both grey power drift plastic bezel pieces, I'd love to know. Doubtful I'd want to spend much on it. I could sweeten the deal with a bunch of broken/raped Afterburner and Thunderblade boards. :)

Power Drift super deluxe (motion cab) is an incredible game. The upright is just a little lacking. I like it, but most people get frustrated quickly and give up. The sound is phenomenal and the Start Button / Reverse View trick is fun - especially right as you cross the finish line. Space Harrier motion cab is also an enhanced experience, but they're pretty rare to see.

How many of the big Sega deluxe cabs suffered this fate? Way too many, I'm afraid. Whether its a situation like this in which it costs more to refurbish or repair than the machine is worth or situations in which the machine is just too big to sell and too big to leave lying about, you just don't see too many of the old deluxe cabs any more. The attributes which made them great, the size and complexity needed to create the immersion and experience they provide, are the very things which doom them today.

It is understandable why they get parted and scrapped, but that doesn't keep it from stinging a little each time.

Nice find on the Space Harrier plastic, BTW

There was a Power Drift deluxe at Kingsport last week. I saw it and had one of those "oh wow" moments.
