So I've received a bunch of tchotke over the years, and while they can be cool, they're usually pretty useless, and I end up giving thiem away.

This one though actually has a practical purpose!

Just thought I'd share a couple images of this DualShock 3 Flash Drive:

Sweet!

Anytime you wanna give stuff away, you know where to send it. Well, if you dont, just PM me and I'll send you my addy.

I don't know if you can buy them anywhere. They were given out to eveyone at Destination PlayStation when you first arrived and got your conference badge.

That is killer dude. Who do you work for to get to go to the conference's if you don't mind me asking? Or was it a public thing?

It wasn't a public thing. DPS is by invite only to publishers and retailers who work with Sony.

I work for an online retailer, who you can probably guess if you look at my location (but I don't want to specifically say, since I don't want my opinion here, or any gaming site, to be mistaken for my company's opinion).

No biggie. I think I figured it out. I was just wondering because I have a Digital Media Arts Degree from Full Sail University. It's a well known university for gaming degrees. It's always good to network with people in the industry so I thought I'd ask.

Yeah, it's not too hard to figure out...

Are you working for a game company now, or starting to look? I mostly deal with the publishers marketing and sales folks, so don't get much interaction with the actual game designers, unless they're showing a demo of the game (and then it's usually a product manager not a developer showing it off).

I'm currently working for NASA in their video department and also do Audio Visual installations. I graduated from Full Sail in 2005 and could have pursued a job in the video game industry but wanted to be close to family here in Mississippi. Unfortunately there are no game companies close and I landed this gig. I like where I am at and the experience I'm getting here, but I'm always looking for the next great thing. Been playing video games my whole life so I know thats a career I would love no matter my job title. Even if its not directly tied to making a game. My degree allows me a lot of flexibility in that I have experience in web, video, print, graphic design, 3d modeling, etc. I'm not the coding type though. I have heard that New Orleans offers a substantial tax break to film and gaming companies who bring their business there. I should start looking over there as I'm only an hour from there. Sounds like you got a cool job though. Congrats! ; )

I know there are a lot of develops on the west coast, but don't know of many in the south east.

I love my job, and totally lucked into this position. I felt like a little kid again when I first transfered to this team and had my first few meetings with companies who's games I grew up playing.

Sweet! Sounds like a great job man! I couldn't live in Seattle for the simple fact that there is no NBA team close by. I know that's a touchy subject around there after the Sonics fiasco. That's one of the reasons I'd like to work/live in New Orleans. I'm a big Hornets/Saints fan.

R.I.P. The Sonics... I can't watch any NBA games now. Closest team is in Portland which is 2 - 3 hours away, depending on traffic.

We do still have the Seahawks and the Mariners though. And UW Basketball has done well in recent years.
