I found this article while browsing a few minutes ago. My Family went to the Lake of the Ozarks for Summer Vacation every year, and just like the Author, I was enthralled with the prospect of getting a few quarters for the Arcade.

I remember this particular arcade quite vividly. It was right across the street from Dogpatch on the strip. Swimming Pool, Go Karts, Arcade, Repeat. That was my summer vacations.

I hope this isn't a repost, I searched and couldn't find it.

I know this is a waaaay dead thread, but damn..I had planned for a visit there this September when I visited family in St.Louis...I was gonna offer to buy some of the guys games too... :(

I don't even know if the building is still up. The same operator owned both the rebel arcade and the 10 cent skeeball down the strip. The 10 cent skeeball and bumper cars were torn down last winter, not sure if the rebel survived. The owners of dog patch across the street purchased all of the equipment. I think they only wanted the skeeball games, so I don't know the fate of the arcade games

That's a bumber to hear.. they had some great games in there..

We went there every summer since the early 70's, the Bagnell Dam strip was the hot spot at the lake in those days. Back then the arcades had several of these live chickens in cages in this wall with windows, each one had a coin acceptor and when you put in a nickle the light would turn on and the chicken would perform a trick. I remember one pecked the keys on a tiny piano, I can't remember the rest. After they did their trick, some feed would be automatically dispensed in a little cup. As you can imagine, that wouldn't go over too well these days.

I also fondly remember playing Midway's Whirly Bird there as a kid, loved flying that little model helicopter in the cabinet.

I found all these pictures on the net today, so thought I would share them. These are from the 70's 90's and 2000's. My wife and I drove to the lake this afternoon, so I will share those photos later.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372377541.116578.jpg

Ah man, I'd been meaning to make a trip down there for the past few years and document everything. My one friend stopped by about a year or so ago. He said there was lots of cool stuff but 90% of it was broken. I totally remember that Two Bit Town and going there to ride stuff as a kid. I can also remember playing Banzai Run in a bar across the street from there and being mindblown at the ball going up in the backglass.

It is sad to see. The only thing remaining in the rebel arcade was an old popcorn maker. Dogpatch moved all of the rebel arcade skee ball machines into their bumper car area. Sadly tne few classics remaining have been mostly converted to multigames. I didn't have time to stop and find out if any of the classics are hold up in storage.
